  • She's the greatest, I remember sometimes she would just toss her dirty rolling pins and utensils across the kitchen into the sink when she was done with them and they would make this loud clank when they hit lol.

  • dude I wanted to know why that one was a roaster and the other one wasn't, dude dude I want to know

  • rotfl lol super funny

  • did u see her throw that knife around like nothing haha XD

  • I used to watch this show when I was a kid with my mother years ago and Mom would swear she drank more wine than she cooked with and was always doing her show a bit tipsy. We loved her.

  • Omg this exact one was totally on TV yesterday and I was so freaking happy! Every time I watch her make something it makes my heart flutter. She has so much spirit. She was an incredible woman with so much spunk. Go Julia Child!

  • I can only think about how headless the chickens are... and then when Julia grabbed it to talk about roasting it the spine stuck out! Ugh, meat. :(

  • Ms. Chicken lol

  • omg how offten do you see so many diffrent types of chicken? I am so use to going to the grocery store to get mine I have simply forgoten how many types there really is. LOLOLOLOL

  • For a look at a model of the French Chef Set as it was at WGBH studios, google "The French Chef Charles Brogdon" and hit the I'm feeling lucky button.

  • I agree with Everypennyofit. Merryl made her better known amongst the younger generation. I've never heard of her before and now thanks to Meryl I became interested in Julia.

  • Hippebutnot, I did and felt the EXACT same way. Those who are unafraid succeed.

  • I thought Meryl did a great job portraying Julia and making her appealing and making people of a whole new generation feel good about Julia and want to come look for videos like this one. As a kid, I thought Julia was weird and goofy, now I see how cool she was and what an unfussy breath of fresh air she must have been. It's OKAY to love Julia C and not hate on Meryl.

  • lol she was funny too

  • Meryl sucked COCK at that role. She didn't even change her voice that much. By the way, I am a fan of hers. That's why it makes me mad that people will marvel over every little piece of crap she poops out.

  • She is adorable! What an interesting and fun personality!

  • She was absolutely mad. Amazing woman!

  • i love julia child =D

  • Shes a delight to watch and listen to!

  • They hand out 0scars to people who couldn't act to save their own life.

  • Meryl was Oscar worthy of her portray of her. no BS

  • I would like to know that too!!! why is one a roaster and the others arn't!! LOLOL... this is a wonderful video.... thanks for sharing!!!

  • @CurlyCorry its the type of chicken...it's called a roaster based on gender, size and age of the chicken before it was killed

  • She's so funny!

  • What a wonderful woman she one of the only people I can tell has a pure heart

  • what a beautiful lady, i aspire to be as positive and bubbly as her. A near impossible feat i think.

  • Meryl Streep looks SO like her in Julie&Julia

  • Caroliney27 lighten up! Meryl did a fine job. I more than HIGHLY DOUBT she used "Dan Akroyds SNL skit " as a reference playing Julia Child. I'd love to see you portray Julia. Im sure you would do it much better.

  • She's really odd, but she's entertaining.

  • @ellisdirector lol, she was one of a kind, that is for damn sure

  • I was just at the Smithsonian museum of natural history this past weekend. I stopped by the Julia Child kitchen and got so emotional getting to see the actual kitchen pots, pans, knives, and everything else she used in the filming of the show.

  • caroline, take it easy. i think that julia was quite a character and maryel got it perfect. not only the essence of her cooking sence but of the happy life she lived with her husband in france. she was as far as i know a genius in the kitchen and mareyl is the same in her field as well. look really at how happy mareyl seemed...does that not embody the spirit of julia...if you don't think so and are still frustrated by this then maybe you should take some acting lessons from bobby flay.

  • ive read both julie and julia and julia child's "my life in france", and i can assure you that the movie is a poor caricature of both women, but mainly of the lovely julia child, mareyl streep's performance is a patronizing insult to julia's memory, and her proud admission that she mainly studied dan akroyd's imitations of julia rather then the actual julia shows the lack of regard she had for julia and for the audience. how she won any award for it is BEYOND COMPREHENSION to me!

  • WOW Meryl did a very good job imitating her.

  • I grew up in the seventies, watched Julia Child...learned to cook thanks to her, and a subscription to Bon Appetit magazine, because my Mom was a terrible cook...I taught HER to cook, LOL...

  • A cross between Mrs Doubtfire and Janet Reno.

  • @TommyC503 Ha ha! You're right.

  • i want to know why!!!

  • looooooool :D yay

  • ah is there an eq. following this? Cause i actually wanna know why lol

  • I have just come back after seeing the film Julie and Julia, what a treat and so wonderfully acted by Meryl Streep; It has even awakened my interest in cooking again!! What a character she was, a one off for sure.

  • It's not a Monty Python voice - it's pure Dame Edna Everage!

  • Hehe.. She's awesome! Her voice reminds me about a Monty Python character..:P

  • Can you imagine Julia and Fannie Craddock in the same kitchen together, now that would be something to see!

  • PETA should use Julia Child's image as their new logo.

  • Agreed! As they say, if slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be a vegetarian.

  • I love Julie & Julia!

  • saw the movie last nite. great lovely movie and now I cant get enough of Julia and julie lol...

  • Julia has been nipping her ingredience.

  • OMG this is such a riot!!!!! Julia was the coolest! Settin' up chickens and naming them?? Who DOES that??

  • [Very sorry! Meant to upvote!]

  • Crazy people.

  • @devangelis that is so true, she was incredible.

  • meryl did her great in the movie! she was such a funny and likeable lady!

  • Did anyone notice her dancing in the background to her own theme music? She is SO made of win!

  • Lol, I had to run it back and watch; how adorable!

  • @hippiebutnot WINNING!

  • ahhhhhh she is actually putting effort into a performance while having fun, cooking shows are supposed to droll, instructional shows watched out of necessity, not enjoyment. what a travesty!

  • In the best julia accent "you poot Tha chicken in tha pot"

She's a legend. I was extremely excited when I heard about the movie. I'm a gourmet(actually a foodie, retaking the gourmet title). and I am familiar with julie's blog on her cooking experiment. To be honest, I went to see the movie for meryl's AMAZING rendition of it than the tame version of the blogger Julie, who is as foul mouthed as can be on her blogs. I believe in class. and half the movie was as classy as can be.

  • wow. you are sooo right. I just saw the movie yesterday night and I am reading Julie's blog right now. The one on screen and the one on the blogs do not seem to match at all. I'm sorry to say, but I think that putting the real one on screen and not the "tame" Julie on screen was a VERY good idea! I liked the fake one a lot better!

  • I just saw the movie tonight. I was charmed and starving after it! Great fun, and lovely tribute!

  • Ha ha ha ha...this is great. I love both ladies and the movie is awesome.

  • Right on the money cloraxion, how delightful those days were. Not a "reality" show in sight.

  • lol omg Meryl Streep did Julia Child's voice PERFECT! =D

  • I hate the look of cold chicked but how cool is she, I mean seriously!

  • LMAO!! The Chicken Sisters

  • lol! The chicken sisters.

  • Back in the good ol' days when they actually put intelligent, interesting personalities on TV.

  • hahahaha she is so cute.

    and hilarious.

  • MYRYL DOES A GREAT IMPRESSION

  • Roast her Julia. Roast that bird!!! THE CHICKEN SISTERS!!!! That was hilarious!!! I love that woman. She's crazy!!! She makes cooking fun she's so funny!!!

  • Seven-week-old chickens are classified as broilers or fryers, and those that are 14 weeks old as roasters. - Encyclopedia Britannica

  • Damn it. I want to know why that chicken is a roaster.

  • no reason, shes just having fun

  • Nah, there's a reason. It seems to have to do something with the bird's size. It shouldn't too big or too small.

  • Same here.

  • The age and size, that's the reason it's a roaster. A roaster needs to be cooked a bit longer in order to get it as tender due to it's size, and sometimes it's older age.

  • Lol! gotta love her!

  • She's awesome!
