It depends on what you'd like to do with your camera. I'd say it's really great to use if you're looking for photos with bokeh (out-of-focus backgrounds,) which is a nice thing to have if you're interested in portraiture. What I like about the 50mm is how awesome it is in low-light situations and you that can still use it for landscape settings as well.
I'd say it's worth the $200 I paid for it. It'll be a nice addition to your lens collection, if not your favorite. :)
