  • bravissimo... il risultato è ottimo!!!

  • @paulslowhand84 grazie

  • I think you're a purty good player. Hey, is that SRV on the fire place mantle ?

  • @motokev hey thanks....yeah thats srv...love him and hendrix !!

  • Nice work, enjoying the end result here. I have a '92 USA Predator myself that I've owned since new. Those Neovins aren't bad pickups at all...considered a set, but had a screaming deal on a set of Fender SCN's(basically the same thing). Did the w/b/w 7-hole 'guard, CTS pots, CRL switch and Swithcraft jack. Ping tuners replaced the old, flimsy stockers....damn shame the odd string spacing prohibits replacing the pot-metal sustain block(aside from milling your own or getting a Wilkinson).

  • great set of vidz!! alot of people dont know that some of these peavy gtrs are made in the usa!!! great gtrs !!!!! awesome job!! keep them commin!!!!

  • @wolfmanindahouse thanks, i agree...these usa peaveys are great guitars....

  • This was a great set of vids. I just found these looking at the swirl painting vids for guitars. I'm a fine artist but getting into assemblage & learning ways to age plastics, metals, all kinds of surfaces. My answer to the question about aging the plastic parts MAY work.I haven't tried it myself with knobs, etc. but there is a product called alcohol inks that may do the trick and they come in browns, yellows, all colors but they are GRUNGE. It may work for you. Google Tim Holtz- alcohol inks.

  • Damn good job man! I repair and restore guitars done it for over 20 + yrs.. I have restored many "relics" back to "as New" back in the day. but now I am getting requests to relic brand new guitars! LOL I recently did a Fender Jimi Hendrix model. Reliced it. It almost seamed like a sin. but ya know? It came out killer.! Rock on!

  • @kevykev38 hey ,thanks man i appreciate it......funny how styles change...at one time you were not cool if you didn't have a brand new shiny guitar and nobody wanted the "aged" ones .....now the used look is the in thing for a lot of people.....same with amps,in the 80's you couldn't give a tube amp away......

  • What a cool set of vids. Your guitar looks killer. Thanks for posting these. I've got a Squire Strat that I am about to try to "relic" so I've been looking everywhere for tips. My Squire has a thick poly finish and I've heard it's hard to relic axes with poly finishes. Any advice? I won't be adding the other paint over the original finish like you did, just gonna try to work on it from the original. The poly finish is VERY glossy and thisk. Any advice? Thanks!!

  • @hamricmike8 hey, thanks for the comment..you are right the poly finish is really thick..as far as tips, most of what i did on this guitar will work on yours as well..i would go over the whole body with a super fine sandpaper such as 2000 grit to dull it down, then do your "relic" work...then you can go over it with some rubbing compound by hand to take out some of the sand scratches if needed...take you time because you want it to look old and dull ,not sanded...good luck with your project...

  • @djdonnie68

Thanks for the reply! Since I posted my comment, I've taken a Scotch Brite pad to the body and it really dulled the finish down nicely. I can't believe how thick they put the poly on this guitar! I've begun aging (destroying) the body and it's actually really fun. The neck on mine is a very light color so I'm having trouble doing the dremel tool thing on the frets because it just doesn't show up. Any ideas on how to give the fretboard that "yellowed look"?

  • @hamricmike8 HEY,AS FAR AS THE NECK GOES I'M SURE THERE ARE SEVERAL WAYS TO DO IT...BUT I WOULD HIT OVER IT WITH THE SCOTCH BRITE PAD THEN GET SOME WOOD STAIN LIKE MAYBE A LIGHT OAK OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT(NOTHING TOO DARK)...TAKE A RAG AND WIPE IT ON THE NECK...DON'T LET IT DRY COMPLETELY THEN RUB OVER IT WITH A CLEAN RAG TO WIPE OFF THE EXTRA..YOU MAY HAVE TO DO IT A FEW TIMES DEPENDING ON THE COLOR OF STAIN YOU CHOOSE..THEN WHEN YOU ARE DONE GO OVER IT WITH THE SCOTCHBRITE TO SMOOTH IT OUT..

  • @djdonnie68

Great stuff man. I'll try the wood stain thing in the next couple of days. I've had the hardest time "aging" the plastic parts! I tried to scuff 'em up a bit and then I put them in a bowl of coffee, cigarette ashes, snuff spit, and tea bags and they've been soaking for 3 days. They look good when I take them out, but after I run them under water, they look perfectly white again! Any tips on this? I want the plastic parts to be darker than the pickguard. Thanks for the help!!

  • @hamricmike8 hey,try using some brown kiwi paste shoe polish on the plastic parts.......

  • Great videos and awesome looking guitar, I love the red color. I have a question though. After you sanded down the red so the wood would show did you clear coat it again or buff it out? It seems shiny in the wore spots or is that just my imagination?

  • @FullBlownRedneck hey thanks, i put dbc 500 clearbase on the complete body of the guitar....it is kinda like a semi gloss....and it is really thin so it has aged a little since these videos were made.....i guess it was a little shiny to start with....i'm thinking of making some newer video of this guitar because i get a lot of comments on it......

  • @djdonnie68 What coulor pickgaurd did you use?

And what is the best liquid to age your chrome?

  • @xDOUBLEUJAY hey, the pickguard is mint green......as far as aging the chrome, you can use muriatic acid or p.c.b. etchant .....the muriatic acid is stronger.....but be careful with either, because they are both types of acid !!!!! some of my other vids go into more detail on this.........

  • great vids man !. I also have a predator I'll be overhauling with gfs stuff in a week or so. I've had that guitar since new for 18 years now, was my first babe.

    Cheers

  • @fabianromano hey ,thanks so much....good luck with your guitar......post some pictures when you are finished so we can check it out !!!

  • @fabianromano yes please do! we would love to see the finished works when your done!

  • nice playing man, really, u have come a long way, nice playing

  • @musicman3527 hey, thanks man.....

  • Very nice guitar man! i loved watching how it all came together! i want to do a guitar some day!

  • @mbuckhannon thanks for your comment.....give it a try .......

  • hey man i watched all of your videos on your peavey and they've been real awesome. im hoping to age/relic my bass sometime soon and your videos have helped alot with different techniques and stuff. thanks and great work! :) you'll be in the fender custom shop in no time! ;) i also really enjoyed the backing music to each video :)

  • @L1I2N3T4 HEY,THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR COMMENT....I'M GLAD THE VIDEOS HAVE HELPED, AND I WISH YOU GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR PROJECT.....TAKE IT EASY,DONNIE

  • Comment removed

  • I can really appreciate your passion and your skills. I've seen several relic videos on youtube and each one has been worse than the last. I haven't actually done a guitar yet but I have 20 years wood working and distressing experience so my standards are pretty high - thanks for posting...

  • @skategangster THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENT.....

  • it sounds and looks great man. congrats on your new creation.

  • @EuphoriaMusicSession thanks for the comment !!!

  • you're a good player despite what you say. good finish on your guitar too, i'm hoping to do this with my les paul shortly.

  • @daveidftw hey, thanks i appreciate it......good luck with your guitar.......

  • @daveidftw lol no ur crazy y would u do that to a les paul lol unless its a studio or somthing then go ahead lol

  • I sat here and watched all 6 parts of your modification, and enjoyed every part. but the best way to learn is to do it myself and you've inspired me so thanks very much- im going to relic my stratocaster now, its black and already been knocked about a bit, so should be fun. thanks for your inspiration

  • @shuttie92 hey, thanks for your comment.....i'm glad the videos have inspired you to do your own guitar.....i could not agree with you more, the best way to learn is is by doing it yourself ...... that is the whole point of these videos, to show you can do it yourself......good luck with your project, i would love to see it when you are done......

  • good job, i think it's the best relic guitar i have ever seen , and you explain very good! I think i will try it with my bass or my les paul, but I'm a bit scared of the result!

  • @metaleupunky thanks for the comment.....and good luck with your projects.....let's see 'em when you are done....

  • @djdonnie68 thanks for the tips btw your sparkle finished strat is awesome :)

  • Hey, just wanted to say, this is one of the best relic jobs I've seen! Really well done. And unlike most it wasn't complete overkill. Got any tips on how to relic a fender Mex. Std. Tele?

  • @Atotalfailure hey, thanks so much for the comment......as far as the tele goes most of the things i did to this guitar would work about the same. for yours....it probably has a polyurathane finish which is a good bit thicker and will take more work.....just take your time and do it to suit your tastes......

  • Fantastic! Everything was well explained, so even us newbie customizers and relicers understand the entire process. Great work, I would be proud :)

  • @mysteryloser24 thanks very much for your comment......i'm glad the videos have been helpful.....i'm very pleased with the way the guitar turned out....

  • Great vid all of them . Relic or not process is allmost the same . Thx to share .

  • @TheWarluck thanks for the comment....

  • Wow. Your videos are sweet! This was so much help because before I had no idea on how to relic a guitar and because of this I love they way my guitar came out

  • Hey....thanks so much for your comment.....I'm glad these have helped .......

  • hey man love the vids and was wondering if you could make a SRV relic strat?

  • thanks for the comment....as for the srv strat... i'm not sure about that....i own one that was made by Tim Davis ..you can see it in another of my videos that shows some of my guitars.....i don't think i could even come close to his work......thanks for the question though.....

  • Thanks! The vids are great! But, as my english is pretty rough, could you please list all the chemicals you used?

  • the chemical that i used to age the hardware was pcb (printed circuit board) echant.....i hope this helps......

  • that was nice. i´ve got the same guitar in the same colour and condition. I love the neck of that guitar.

  • hey....thanks for the comment....the peaveys are very good guitars....

  • this (cheap) guitar has more strat sound than a squier

  • Very nice video. I recently found my old red predator in my attic and the pickguard is yellow!

  • hey....thanks for the comment.....

  • i know i sounded rude, i just see people ruining there guitars all the time because they think they know what they are doing. (not you, other people)

however, even though your process seemed strange to me, the final result does look really good. i'm sorry if i sounded insulting before.

  • no offense taken....i just do this for fun ....

  • i don't mean to sound rude, but most of the advice you gave is pretty bad. for example, it doesn't make any sense to ding up the body before you paint it. for the most part, the guitar turned out ok. but i could see someone following these videos and ruining their guitar in the process. i know i sound like a jerk, im just sayin'.

  • @calvinscheuerman the reason i did these videos was to answer some questions i have been asked.....i have never advised anyone to do this to their own guitar....i built this guitar to my taste not yours....so if you do not like the videos my "ADVICE" to you is to watch something else....."I'M JUST SAYIN"

  • hey man, i just built a custom part-o-caster out of a starcaster neck, late 60's fender body, single coil razor pups and pots out of an american peavey predator and new tortoiseshell guard. everything on it is aged nicely but the 5-way switch knob, did you use the show polish to age your knob?? it looks funky on mine cuz everything is aged but the little knob, lol, can you help me out? i can send pics of mine also

  • hey....yeah just hit over it a little with a scuff pad to dull it down...rub over it with the brown shoe polish then wipe it off.....it should give it a yellowish aged look....lets see some pics of your guitar.....

  • thanks for the comment....i appreciate it.....

  • Hey Donny... GREAT GUITAR.. Your Playing is VERY GOOD TOO>.. Don't be shy--let it WALE OUT... I like the red relic you got there. good lesson, I like the ending montage,, .. Have you ever checked out the line6 spider jam amp... If not check it out,, I bought one, It's a great guitar tool and amp for the money... Talk to ya later Pete

  • hey pete, thanks for the comment....i saw a video demo on the spider jam amp but have not checked one out in person....i'll have to check into that....take it easy...

  • the pickguard and the knobs ,everything is just amazing

  • thanks for the comments......i appreciate it....

  • u are playing very well man, that gtr sounds great

  • hey thanks....i'm kinda self contious about my playing....i love those pickups though....the guitar is run through my vox valvetronics amp on a 4x10 tweed amp setting with some reverb and a little bit of drive........

  • it did turn out really good, i like that color, dont see that often and the pickups set it off,

  • thanks.....i mixed the color myself....it's supposed to be close to fenders fiesta red...
