Wow dalgis.... it's a shame that here in Colombia we can't get the HJ-61 Toyota LC. Instead, we have the FJ-62 Petrol one. It's not bad at all, but it can't be compared to a Turbocharged Diesel engiene, which is far more reliable.
This video reminds me of my childhood memories, when in a forest of eucalyptus, my father an i got thousands of times stuck in the unpaved, muddy roads of Magdalena, Colombia. Lots of hours spent in the mud, but lots of fun, good times and 4x4 lessons as well!
What sort of exhaust does your 61 have? it sounds awsome, my one's are maunal non turbo, and automatic with turbo, i have to say i like the auto one better, alot better in the mud! awsome video!
Landrove's are gutless heap's off shit & skinny tyres are a waste of time in mud & sand had them & never again got the MT's now hav'ant looked back !!!!!!!
Nice vid - and hereby is proven, they for serious offroad shit like this, high, nrrow tracor tyres be needed, not "Look-at-me-gangsta-shit" blimp tires like useless Pitbulls... Reckon any old stock 88" Landrover would have gotten through without all the revs and plowing up the track, low-revs and without any drama. HJ61 sound is amazingly cool, though!
A lot of spin required to clean them in mud, which means power is needed, but once they're clean they start to perform pretty well. Work great in deep snow and on hard surface. Awful on icy roads - they don't want to keep straight line...
I've read somewhere that Pitbulls like very low pressure (e.g. 5psi). I'll try it after I install Staun beadlocks
That's the thing i like about cruiser engines, the turbo cuts in early on in the revs so maximises low end torque. That is much less strain on other components
thnx, mate. I'm glad someone likes it :) It's 12ht manual. Boost increased to 0.95 bar. With open exhaust it has 163 BHP, no problems with spinning 35'' Pitbulls in 3rd low in mud.
best 4x4 vid i have seen Awsome video mate

awesome video! I'm surprised but Toyota was doing significantly better. I guess it's because of the 35" but still very, I mean very! impressive!
