  • .... couldnt you send it to both a hard compressed aux and and soft one? then u could just blend them against each other and send them through a final aux. this way u would have none of your original sound coming through, just your compressed aux's. more precise me thinks.

  • is there a way to get a synth pulsating without having turn up the kick drum with it??

  • @MILLSPRO123 Yes, you can send any sound you want to the side chain to make the compressor across your synth "pump". A kick drum is good because it has a nice attack and quick release and that makes the compressor pump. If you don't want to hear the sound you're sending to the side chain input, just don't send it to the stereo bus. On Logic, for example, just select "no output" on the that track's output. It will still get to the compressor, but you won't hear it in the mix.

  • @RRivesNYC thank you sir.

  • noob ?, when you say adding volume to the "stereo bus," what does that mean? Is the stereo bus just the main outs? Im confused about using the word bus in that context, again i'm very new to all this. So is the main output of the whole mix considered the "stereo bus?"

  • @PeteGrime Yes, the main output and the stereo buss are the same. This is where all your individual tracks are summed into a stereo output. In Logic this is the Stereo fader labeled "Output". The only thing after that is your Master fader, which I personally would leave set to 0.0 (unity gain) and never think about again. Make monitor volume adjustments on your audio interface's volume knob or the Mac's volume slider if you're just using the headphone jack.

  • Thank you very much.
