  • good times

  • YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

  • i have fighting words with anyone thats says this isnt the greatest song ever written

  • Comment removed

  • Garbage...

  • @atrudeau146 i wasted 3:05 minutes of my life .

  • thumbs up if you think this outro should've been on the cd instead of the piano.

  • @DisposableHeroV you my good sir deserve a bananna

  • "ID Crisis" & "Illusion of Safety" are amazing and downright killer all around. They went in other directions, but gotta respect the depth of the message.

  • Reminds me of Dream Theater, very abstract and amazing music.

  • Lol at the guy who gets on the stage at 1:47. Dustin is just like "Aww yeah"

  • I commented in another thrice vid about how there are so many thrice fans who resent the idea of thrice changing their style. I see some commenting here about how they changed after their third album, and while vheissu might not be as punk as IC or Illusion of safety/ the artist in the ambulance, it was still a pretty hardcore album. They transitioned to the sound they have now, didn't make a complete 360, as you see the alchemy index vol 3&4 is where the sound really started to change imo

  • 2:28 epic!

  • I understand that they evolved

I just don't like how they evolved

  • Personally, I enjoyed the older material alot more, but you have to admit, the new stuff is incredibly diverse in a good way. The melody, the sound, and don't forget the lyrics. The Alchemy Index felt like an album that took a decade to write because of the amazing songs that were put into it. Every song they had was perfect with a smooth flow, so raw and so down to earth but at the same time, it felt like it was on another plane of existence.

  • it makes me sad... what happened to thrice they were like one of the best bands and now they.. well... bring back your better years!

  • @brettsvn they were starting to get unimpressed at what they wrote in their third album and decided to go write something soft and different than what is being played nowadays. In my opinion, it was a great idea because they were starting to sound like Killswitch Engage, A7X, and all the other metalcore bands on their third album. also a lot of bands change after several years and you can't just expect the same thing over and over again and be impressed like before.

  • @venusfly9108 i hear what your saying but, thrice had a very distinct sound that got them to where they are now and then did a complete 360, i think probably at least half of their fans were disappointed when they went for their new style(or at least the people i know and talk to). im not saying i would expect the same thing but to grow as a band and make some good music sticking to their roots or what brought them to where they are today.. me personally love the older thrice and wish more

  • @brettsvn I actually like their older material more too, that was truly where it was at. However, I also like the later stuff as well, as it was also very different what any other bands have written, I'm more open to other stuff as well. Daedalus was a great one next to their folk cover of Frodus. But I agree, the old stuff from Identity Crisis and TIOS, especially Deadbolt was the best.

  • @venusfly9108 bands would incorporate some melodic, punk, metal, hardcore shit as thrice did bringing their own sound to it... i guess all in all i just love the older stuff they did and get upset to hear all the bullshit coming out these days from all the over produced shit bands(not saying thrice is now one of them).

  • @brettsvn wtf are you talking? thrice is still great maybe they sound a little different, they are exploring outside of their comfort zone like any good band would. none the less thrice is still awesome!

  • @cutsandbruises101 did you mean to say what the fuck or why the fuck? im confused by your baby bitch spelling! yea thrice is still a good band.. when they play their old shit, And im gonna act like i didnt hear you say any good band plays out of their comfort zone because that is just fucking retarded so i forgive you for that.. why dont you try again son.

  • @brettsvn oh that was really clever buddy, and yes im right, no good band plays the same shit over and over again. nobody likes repatition.

  • @cutsandbruises101 there is definately a way to grow as band and stick to your roots without doing a complete 360(after all the the music they use to play is the reason they are where they are at today) if they were to have been doing the stuff that they play now back when they started both you and I would probably never even know who thrice is..

  • @brettsvn bringing us the same sound would get boring though

  • lol a women was taken off stage!

  • Comment removed

  • @1147466123 , then y the hell are u watching vids about them?

  • Gotta love that guy that just randomly shows up on-stage, sings, and then dives back into the crowd.

    Very inspiring.

  • @008xtreme

That's how you know it's an amazing set

people crowd surfing and getting on stage doesn't happen very much during Thrice shows nowadays(Since they changed their sound for the better) but when they play Deadbolt,In Your Hands,So Strange I Remember You and alot of their older faster material, the place goes FUCKING INSANE!!!

and that's how it's supposed to be

  • i love that guy that just gets up and sings then dives of the stage. EPIC!

  • couldnt agree more

  • love that kid that gets up and screams...lol dustin is like "ok"

  • The live ending is so good.

  • What with these drunk guys that sings with the band ? XD

  • thrice was sick ass fuck back in the days who knows how they are know but i know they are playin this year at warped tour im going fersure to check em out see if they still got it

  • hmm.. Sounds a lot and I mean a lot like Rise against, not a bad thing just noticing

  • except thrice became a band in 1998 and rise against became a band in 1999...

  • PWN

  • You mean rise against sounds a lot like thrice.... except not. Thrice is loads more talented... listen to their newer stuff.

  • Are you outta your mind? Rise against is a Punk band with the same rhythm to every song almost. Not that they're bad they're one of my favorite bands. I met them and have one of Brandon Barne's drumsticks, but thrice is much more complex, and the drumming is much more impressive. Thrice is way better man.

  • @jesusdrummer4913 dude i totally agree. I hate these punk bands who have no melodies. Thrice, all time low, hit the lights. They all have their own unique sound but all their songs sound different and actually have talent. Like there is actually lead guitar parts

  • @shrimpfririce I think you just may be on to somethin man. Good to see someone who doesn't blurt out mindlessly!

  • @shrimpfririce thrice is not a punk band ha.

  • @jesusdrummer4913 i guess it`s not about techinique and complexity... my favorite band is millencolin and they are not complex at all and their music means a lot for me. that's too subjective.

  • @lenyhaha Are you trying to tell me that you think it is wrong that my musical taste is based off of technique and complexity, or that yours just isn't?

  • @jesusdrummer4913 i'm just saying that for some people the important parts of the music are how the lyrics match to their lives and how the melodies make them feel better, being complex or not. not trying to prove anything, not saying that you're wrong, only saying my point.

  • @lenyhaha And I totally agree with you, I just couldn't tell which way you were going with that. I connect with Thrice in that very way. I was simply saying that their musical sound is nothing like Rise Against, it is much more complex and beautiful. An emotional tapestry.

  • They've grown and changed so much as people and musicians since First Impressions.

For them, what they do is not about the fans. It is about the music. THey are going to make the music they want to make, even if it loses them fans. FOr me, that is what it is all about. I've been with THrice since the beginning, and they have been a cnstant changing source of inspiration to me. I really hope they keep doing what they are doing. There is only one word to describe it. Revolutionary.

  • I loved the raw power and emotion in the earlier THrice stuff.

But the new albums are just amazing. The lyrics are moving, the music fits so perfectly. It's the kind of stuff that just...

Words can't even describe it. The emotion throughout Daedalus. The despair in Digging My Own Grave. The pure, raw power in The FLame Deluge. It's amazing music, and I love where hey've gone. Such growth is incredible. No, they've lost the face melting riffs, but they've gained a new way to inspire

  • he lost his sound?

  • When they go into that ending, you can see the crowd stop moving and go into a trance. The only explanation is that they were looking into the eyes of god. Thats kind of how I feel watching this, so being there must have been powerful.

  • does anybody know if they still play a lot of their old stuff live. Thats the stuff id like to hear at warped tour. Their new stuff is good but i love stuff of like artist in the ambulance and illusion of safety

  • yeah they play a pretty good balance of all their stuff

  • artist old? identity crisis is where its at theat album was epic that was before they became borderline mainstream

  • they are only gonna play for 30 minutes, warped tour blows. but on their live dvd that came out after the alchemy indexes they play like 4-5 old songs

  • The way this band has progressed is just amazing. I'm glad they don't just stick to making the same stuff like this over and over. This is an awesome song but sticking to this formula would have robbed the world of some of the most creative albums I've ever heard.

  • so sick when the kid sings with Dustin on stage

  • yeah and then he jumps into the audience knees first and everyone lets him hit the ground.

  • lol ya i was like wtf did he just cannonball into the audience?! Where did he go? lmao

  • does anyone know if theres a studio recorded version of this song with that ending on it... cuz i love that ending, but its different from the album ending. they played like this at the house of blues too on the dvd... and it was siiiiick

  • I wish I could find that version of it as well, to be honest.. I love both live versions of this song (this one and the House of blues one) but Its so Epic when Dustin sings those soaring notes over Teppei's lead with that monster effect. while Eddie screams in the House of blues version (sorry Riley, but ur still an awesome drummer! lol) Both are amazing, and a studio version of the live ending would be great.

  • for sure... we can only wish im afraid... lol

  • Epic. I love their old stuff, but their new stuff is just... revolutionary.

Thrice for life. Whos with me?

Btw, what other singer would just laugh if some guy came up and sang with you?

  • Seriously, it made him smile.

    That's great.

  • Haha he loved it.

Try that with the rolling stones and security would be all over your ass.

  • whats wrong with it?

  • Yeah, the live version is not as good, seriously.

  • the guy at 1:48 is my hero

  • haha i wish i was him too sooooo badass

  • 1:46 Fucking guy hahahahahaha

  • HAHAH that does sound funny when you say it like that. It's from the bible though, a line in "Proverbs" says "stolen water is sweet, bread eaten in secret is pleasant."

  • by saying you "loved thrice for their hxc punk sound", you're really saying you enjoyed the sound and not the bad playing the music. So what would it matter to you if it was thrice or someone else playing it? I agree with CoheedHero

  • does anyone else miss this thrice... the new stuff is good but its just not thrice... like i miss the days of showing up to a show and them melting your face off and just shredding it

  • yea man. new shit is totally mellow.

like its good but... not thrice.

  • i think their new stuff is totally thrice. i think it is what makes them one of, if not the best bands, musically that is making music today.

they can honestly play any style of music that they wish. (just a larger variety of stuff to play live) i want to see them live so bad. and i can't wait to here even newer stuff.

  • LOL at the random guy who tries to scream!

  • WATER IS POISON hahha

  • saying their old stuff was more "thrice" doesn't even make sense. they define themselves by what music they write.

  • But I certainly enjoy the new mature Thrice more than I do their early days.

  • "People are always arguing about thrice... "

Which just goes to prove that they're a force to be reckoned with.

  • i love thrice. all of their songs.

  • exactly. all of thier albums are amazing in different ways. Personally I think Vheissu is a masterpiece.

  • i like how that chick was escorted off the stage.

and some random kid jumped in on vocals for one line haha

  • People are always arguing about thrice... Honestly, who cares...

  • i love all thrice

  • great comments about thrice wanting to change and evolve with their music. spot on.

do you still have the same music taste that you had 6 years ago? come on they were barely out of their teenage years with illusion.

  • their new jams are groovy, but it's just not thrice. we loved them for their hxc punk sound.

i think they should have just started a side project for all the experimental stuff.

    IMHO

  • Experimental?

It just seems like a natural progression on how they have evolved as people and musicians. Sure, it's not what they started out being, but that doesn't mean that they should be pigeon holed into one genre.

If we were to do that for every band, there would be a backlash against seeking new ways of making music.

To go from a punk aesthetic to a post-hardcore mentality isn't the greatest of leaps either.

  • I agree with both sides of what is being said. Im a fan of the older Thrice material, such as identity crisis, illusion of safety, aritst in the amublance, and some of vheissu. they have grown alot as musicians, i do agree with that. The old material just had that power and edge to it that really pulled you in and caught your attention, where as to the new stuff you could listen to it and yeah it's pretty good, but it's not something that can catch your ear anymore, like you dont care as much

  • Let the children have their Illusion of Safety. Us grown ups would like to listen to our Alchemy Index and Vheissu in peace.

Unfortunately, Thrice HAS to play Deadbolt and Artist in the Ambulance for the teenies that still think that's their best material.

Thrice is way beyond those songs musically and artistically...

  • That was pretty ignorant. All of Thrice's material is good. Old and new. The lyrics to Stare at the Sun have amazing depth to them.

  • The illusion of safety isn't an album just for the teenies. It's a great CD both technically and artistically. You obviously don't know what your talking about and you under appreciate that masterpiece. Or maybe you just don't know music well enough to recognize some heavier stuff.

Just because they changed style doesn't mean what they used to do is crap. Listen to the whole album and you'll see how passionate it is.

  • Umm, I was the one who said it was all good?

  • You can't just sum Thrice's albums up with age category specifics, such as "grown ups only listen to Alchemy Index" and "teenies only listen only Illusion." Thrice transcends explanation, but is worthy of all ears.

  • thrice isn't scared to play heavy, they are just talented enough to play other styles and extremely effective if you ask me. so stop whining about how they change and go listen to the fire disk...... I suppose that isn't heavy?

  • People understand it's heavy, they just want the same re-hashed version of IOS to get off to. Thrice is better than that and plays even more amazing music on TAI and Vheissu, but the narrow-minded kids can have their fun wishing for the same album over and over again.

  • what a great band, nice good old days :)

  • scared to play heavy?

some people get sick of the same old stuff.

i think its amazing how these guys can change their style.

  • very true...one of the main reasons they are my favorite band

  • ahh back when thrice wasnt scared to play heavy music.

  • scared to play heavy music? have you even heard the fire disc?

  • best band :)

  • soooo proo

  • I love how they mix punk, metal and hardcore.truly unique

  • best deadbolt video in my opinion, BEST BAND

  • I can't wait for Thrice to come back to SLC they rock, Awesome Show!

  • Teppei is a friggin machine

  • I was at this show, amazing night. There was no security guards nor a barrier between the crowd and the stage. Was the same night as Brand New at the Barfly, was a tough decision...! I miss these days

  • baaaaasicly dustin is the man with the plan.... i love thrice so much it hurts, it can get pretty intense sometimes haha

  • well said. thomas erak from fall of troy must have sold his soul to the devil to be able to play the licks he does and sing at the same time. and theyre pretty awesome live, i saw them with coheed

  • thrice are amasing i like how they let the guy from the crowd come up cool band

  • true. Now lets see ACDC (awesome band though) let a fan on stage. I think said fan would be shot on sight.

  • teppei=amazing

    thrice=amazing

    end of story

[singing and playing any musical instrument at the same time is way hard. i sing and play guitar, its hard until you figure out how to move your hands and sing at the same time]

  • Still it's really hard to learn actully , you just forget how hard after you've been playing for years .

  • It's not hard after years of playing , becomes like second nature . When you first learn to play a song and sing at the same time it can be hard , he's only playing rhythm though . Im sure he made one mistake at 1:05 mintues . Just lost his place for a second .

  • He didnt' make a mistake, the chord there really has no fingers

  • They look so young.. and Dustin's arms aren't covered in tattoos

Now someone please tell me (considering I'm not musically inclined) - how hard is it to sing and play the guitar the way he does - especially with the intensity Dustin has

  • My mouth and arm used to seem impossible to move independently. It just becomes easier over the years. Still though, playing complex scales and retaining your pitch and cadence is hella hard.

  • guy who jumped on the stage with dustin is awesome

  • yeah were with you firebreather!...thricve are effin' awesome :P

  • haha fuck yeah!!!! :D

  • I'm in love with thrice.

    Anyone with me?

  • YES!

  • Legend!

  • Hell yeah ! in 20 days I will see them again !

  • The Grand Rapids show?

  • Nop, Montreal

  • ME TOO, dude i can't wait til they come back in montreal, they kick ass!

  • Did you went to the Taste Of Chaos '06 ?

  • Man That Ending Still Gives Me The Chills, In A Good Way.....I LOVE THIS SONG!!! AND THIS BAND!!!!!

  • someone needs to do a cover of it with better sound and picture

  • dude deadbolt is like theyre best song ever

  • This is the definitive Deadbolt live video. The performance isn't the cleanest but the pinnacle at "And you!" is what makes the video so classic.

  • are they a metal band?

  • no, progrock. experimental lately.

  • Great song. A lot of people say it would've been better if they added another verse. I say it couldn't be any better. I love the piano solo at the end on the album version.

  • There are 3 awesome things in this vid which I'll list in order of appearance.

    1) Teppei head banging vigourosly while fingering the crazy intro riff

    2) The kid that jumps on stage (1min:55secs), puts his arm around Dustin and screams in the mic, then stage dives into the audience. That kid is my hero.

    3) The bassist screaming his face off toward the end.

    Cool shit.

  • I can't stand it when punk asses like that think its cool pulling on the mic like that. I would have punched him in the face if I were Dustin.

  • apparently dustin thought it was funny, because it kindxa looks like he's laughing as the guy runs off.

  • i think its fine if ONE person does it every once in a while as long as everyone stops after. that and everyone chills with crowdsurfing people abuse it.

  • this is the song from lars the emo kid!!!!1

  • this is classic thrice. artist in the ambulance is my favorite album, not that i didn't not like vheissu, it just didn't meet my expectations. the stuff on the fire album looks good.

  • This is from Illusion of Safety. Looks a little dated too; Dustin got out of breath early.

  • Actually, I think this is from TAITA-era, because they're playing the song in a slightly different key evocative of Drop-C, which they used a lot of on TAITA, versus the Drop-C# that the song was recorded in. But you're right, this has to be a little bit older, it's a smaller venue they're playing in, and I mean... hahaha, somebody actually gets up, screams with D-Baby, and then later on stage-dives (mighta been two different people but they looked alike...)

  • well they are an experimental band, and the guitars so close to being metal

  • best thing ive ever seen in my whole life

  • dude, at least i know how to spell 'dumb' whenever im insulting someone.

  • is it just me or is the recording shit?

    i love thrice!

  • What have i done, is it to late to save me from this place

from the depths of the gave

    what have i done?

  • hey spoogiers: you are a dumbass.

    this song kicks fucken ass!

  • Wanna go, you dunb piece of sh**

  • Dustin Kensrue (lead vocals) is a very talented man. His voice is unbelieveable...you should hear him sing his solo cover of "Creep" its amazing. So watch what you say about bands if you don't know anything about them.

  • that was sick i liked the ending

  • this is one of the best fucking versions of this song i've heard by them

  • well hey, while everyone else is talking trash to people around the world I'd just like to say I happen to greatly enjoy this song. Alot of fun too play from a guitar players perspective.

  • miznaughty i bet you like eating boogers and hiney crust.

  • Hahaha, don't comment on the music unless you've actually tried to play/sing the song; a "music critic" like MizNaughty over there hasn't got a clue, i'm guessin' (and why did she even bother to watch this, then?)

  • goth? this shit is post hardcore, where did you pull goth out of? your fucking ass hole or what...

  • thrice is one of the best bands from the post 90's strech of great bands like rage, alice in chains, pantera, nirvana. thrice is one of the originors of a type of music similar to poison the well. they deserve respect for their great and original style of song writing.

  • lol random person comes up and screams

  • lol. keep crying are u emo. u must be. this is one of the best bands..

  • Emo? Wtf is that? I guess I'm just not into music where people just sling their heads around like they're having a seizure, slinging sweat and shit all into the crowd, while belting out lyrics that you can't even fucking understand because of all the loud music blaring BEHIND them.

  • emo is emotional

and maybe you dont like metal cuz you like music with no talent

  • Metal singers suck, but the guitarists and drummers are AMAZING

  • its not metal your moron...and hes a better singer than you'd ever be even if god gave you a chance

  • course its a type of metal...listen to the guitar!

  • dude Thrice metal?? lol

  • metal??? lmfao. ur an idiot

  • illusion of safty is thier best shit...thier first album is great too!!!

  • thanks dude.

  • does anyone know the exact lyrics at the end part of the live version of this? I can't find them anywhere online, and obviously on the cd it just go straight to the piano.

    Thanks in advance.
