At 5:05, you proposed bishop drop to 3f, but it seems white can go horse takes 6g, threatening to take the knight or to get a strong defense if the horse is retrieved back to 1b.
So as to avoid this, I think bishop drop on 4e is better : you can still threaten promotion, you defend 6g, and you also a dangling pawn on 2d if the horse were to leave its diagonal.
What happened to the sequel? I would like to know what do you think happens if black choose P-9f instead of G-7h or P-2d. Pros occasionally pick P-9f but there's little material even in Japanese to pursue this variation.
1. From lower comment: we use +B (promoted bishop) not H (horse) in international notation :)
2. After B*3e Px22+ from book: Sx22 R28 Bx57+ B*45 G32 Bx63+ G52 and after +B escapes Rx86 or +Bx67.
3. I also remember from one site two variations after B*3e. a) R2e Bx5g+ R5e Bx6g Rx5c+ P*5b, b) R2h Bx5g+ Px2b+ Rx2b P*2c R1b B*2b P*2d Bx1a+ Rx1a L*2g B*4e Lx2d P*2g.
4. And i was very happy that i found 10:04 P*8f lol
at 10:00 i personally would have droped P*9h and promote. which then can lead to (if your wise with the next few moves) taking blacks L , K , B and also his Silver. A great shell shocking move!!
In situation showed in 4:17 how about droping the rook to 5e forking the horse and the pawn, if white drops R*5f, Rx5f +Bx5f and another fork by rook drop to 2f. ??
After R*5e, white won't drop R*5f. He'll just go H-6g. He doesn't care about black's Rook promotion to 5c. After black Rx5c+, white will play, for example, G6-5b. So now, black's in a trouble.
I've checked out Yamajunn's site after you mentioned. He suggests B*4e instead of B*3f at 5:05 in the video. But actually, B*4e is not very good, because white will play P*2g, Rx2g P*2f ! , Rx2f H-3e, R-4f.
Also B*9f isn't good either, because, white will play P*2g, Rx2g Rx8f, P*8g P*2f. (now if black R-2h, white R-5f or Rx9f)

so really this was 8 minutes to explain that you must move the gold as the 5th move :P

Yes, which is very important to learn.
You have to know how to punish black's P-2d without the gold move if you were playing white, otherwise black's reckless p-2d would make you lose.

At 4:40, what if Black uses the right Gold to G5h, then White can't get the chance to R*7h, right?
xDAZZE 2 years ago
If G4-5h, you lose the Silver on 3i.

You are using many different programs.
What are the reasons to use this or that program?
What are you missing in BCMShogi? ;-)

These moves were also on Yamajunn`s Basic Shogi Opening site under name : Opening Traps.
But can you please tell us about the koshikake gin strategy both in aigakari and kakugawari ?
