Saddam Hussein was going to start selling oil under the Euro currency. Which meant that if he did this, America's dollar would really go to shit. Then other markets would follow suit. Now thinking back on this. I do not remember anyone explicitly saying that sadaam had anything to do with iraq, even though bush compared sadam to bin laden on occasion, he didnt say they were working together.
I also remember one of the main talking points of the 2004 debates was that there was absolutely no connection between al queda and iraq, and at no point did bush explicitly deny that.

As for George W., he could have so easily prevented 9/11 just by reading his Presidential Daily Briefing. They had many opportunities to prevent it, but didn't. When you are the President, you take an oath to uphold the Constitution and to protect your people. The REASON our country was the safest in the world is because our Presidents often did just that.
