its a flashback before Saw 1....right in the beginning when Jigsaw's legacy started, thats how the concept saw works.....they flashback everything to fill in the missing pieces of the puzzle....now with Jigsaw dead, they go back to show how he planned his legacy to go on

Uh this is way before Jigsaw died dude, its a flashback, one of the concepts of Saw to tie in loose ends, and Hoffman is willing to carry his work to protect himself cuz he knows no matter waht, the information of him killing seth will be released

I'm a little confuse over that shotgun chair trap. Was it even actually fatal to hoffman? From what i understand, if Hoffman pull the strings with his wirsts, the shotgun goes off, but it's empty... What was the point of that "trap"??? Just scare Hoffman into joining him?

Pretty much. As far as I know, it's because when he got up, John gave him a choice to kill him, turn him in, or join him. And with the corrupt legal system, he felt compelled to join Jigsaw. Seeing as his sister's killer was let go after only serving five years for the murder.

i agree with saw 3 and 4 at the same time... but if u have seen saw 5.. u will realize the begining and end of saw 4 is actually the begining of saw 6 when they are in the autopsy room. cause john says, "are you there detective, if you are, then that means you must be the last man standing, i told you my work would continue, you think it's over just because i am dead, the games have just begun!"

well saw 3 and saw 4 are actually going on in the same time frame.

At the end of 4 you see that dude going into the room with jigsaw in it, he kill him blah blah lady gets her head blown up and than the other guy walks in to see him standing over jigsaw, his wife and amanda. So he kills him. The events in number 3 are happening at the same time the events in number 4 were.

The autopsy scene at the start of 4 is actually supposed to be the end of the movie. its there to sonfuse you. ;)

Actually this scence is a flashback. Hoffman was a copycat Jigsaw and the real Jigsaw captures him and lectures him on a much better way to exact revenge, a more efficient way. Because Seth killed Hoffman's sister.
