You can only use light objects, so a ball will not float above the charged stick. It is all about electrical charges. The stick generates a charge that balances the gravity of the 'floating' item, so you have to keep the weight down as the charge on the stick is small.

I bought two for niece, nephew. They basically dont work at all. The silver shapes last for about five minutes, and then dont work anymore. Dont waste your money.

they work, its either the batteries you use, how long you hold in the button to generate the static electricity, or how you use the tinsel toys . its not a waste of money, or time. you just arent using it correctly.

Oh my goodness! You couldn't be more wrong! They work until they discharge against something...but then all you need do is press the button and expose the tinsel to the charged stick and voila! -Back to life it comes!

I've been playing with the same loop for HOURS (literally). Just ordered 4 more on-line for one of the most fascinating gifts of all time.
