Great tutorial, but the step of adding a photo to the project doesn't work. When I double click a photo in the bridge (a .jpg, .pdf, or another .psd), it creates a new project for the photo, not a new layer in the existing project.
This is how to make a photo into a new layer: File > Place > (select image).
I'm very curious as to how you arrived at the instructions you gave, as they are very different from this. Did you gloss over an important step, and if so, what step?
Yea, i had the same problem as the guy just mentioned. I trid to insert a pic and its locked. This was a good tutorial up to this point and now it was a complete waste of time. That sucks man
Don't give up, If your pic shows up as a background layer, just double click on the actual picture icon "layer" and it will ask you to name the layer default "layer 0"; just click ok and the layer will be unlocked. You can also duplicate the layer CTRL J and then delete the background layer. Good luck
When I double-click on a picture in Bridge, it inserts is as another "background" layer, which shows on the side panel to be locked. How did you get the galaxy looking picture to become an actual layer? All of the info you are giving is awesome so far, but without the ability to make one of my photos a layer like you have here, I can't continue following along.
didn't need the bar from step 2 for what I have in mind for my flyer, but curious if it could be made to be diagonal. I think I could figure that out though. On to step 3.
