  • Ustad Bismillah Khan will always be remembered for his unconditional love and dedication to Indian Classical music. His efforts and dedication brought shehnai from a level of an instrument only played during auspicious occasions in Indian households to a level of a classical music instrument.

  • Ustad Bismillah Khan will always be remembered for his unconditional love and dedication for Indian Classical music...this piece of music really stirred my soul again....I wish I could have ever taken his blessings....As an Indian I will always have a fond memory of Ustadji giving an interview to a journalist at the JFK Airport; where he commented on Ronal Reagans offer to settle down in USA;Ustad ji said that bring Varanasi here and I will settle here in USA.Such was his love for Varanasi.

  • Wow! one of the jolliest of Sehnai pieces I have heard...!!

  • The legendary shehnai player, Ustad Bismillah Khan was one of India's most celebrated classical musicians. Bismillah Khan has been credited with taking the shehnai from the marriage mandap to the concert hall.

  • Simply superb

  • AWESOME!

    (sorry about the caps but...)

  • wonderful! I was lucky enough to be there, but amongst 100.000 people, I coulden't see Mr Khan, only heard him and had goose pimples. The trumpets sounded so ancient from the back of a huge field... I love seeing Maharaji's face: he is certainly enjoying!

Once again, Thank you for posting it, Ramil.

  • Bismillah Khan was neither a devotee of Prem Rawat nor Shri Hans, he was a Muslim.

However he had performed for both

He showed incredible humility in his comments to Maharaji, not sadness

Prem Rawat is much more than a fitting replacement for Shri Hans, I have met several people who were followers of both, they are blissed out.

  • Jei Gurudev Maharaski Jei

  • excellent, full of love, tanks to MAHARAJI,remaind me to fell love inside me.

  • This is beautiful. I am from the US. Listening to this makes me certain that much of what I have enjoyed over the past 40 years in so called "progressive" western music was actually inspired by Indian music like this.

  • amazing music.

    :)

    my heart is pleased.

  • i am very glad to see this video of ustad bismillha khan shaeb. I am also a sehanai player. ustad ji is a great player of sehnai. I salute ustad ji. I wish i want to be a sehanai artist just like ustad ji. I had gone to ustad house.

  • omg tabla is wicked wicked wicked sikk around 6:00

wow im kinda damn amazed at dis performance!!!

  • I've heard that quite a few times now. Every time it sounds better.

  • genius...thx for posting...music that realy inspires...

  • Part 3:

Amazingly There He was taking smiles from Me LOVE.

Was Bhairavi the raga i like the most and the the light in Mji's face marking the rhythm and that mix pulled me from pain to overwhelming joy . Epic, transcendent, simply magical.

I just want to follow my heart always.

It always takes me to splendour.

Maybe now we can meet and I can put the lirics over your raga so to enchant Mji with it.

Bolei Shri Satgurudev Maharaji Ki JAI.

  • Part2:

I remember going to Varanasi to try to ask mr.Bishmilah to play for my Beloved Maharaji i could not find Him. I just had two hours in the city to look for Him. I promised to insist and on the end of that Celebration I was going to take Vijay with me and try to look for Mr. Khan.

  • Part 1:

For many years i wanted Him to play for Maharaji.

One day, SHRI HANS's Birthday, i'm laying down at the Celebration with a fever so high that even my spine was cracking and I hear that sound that I knew well and at the first note I transpose from a painful dellirium to the shores of heaven on earth.

Another sweet little dream I had was being fulfilled.

  • Such humility before he begins to play!! Amazing!!

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • excellent , the drumming is great too !

  • its not drumming its tabla

  • It has been a great pleasure!

    Thank you!

  • Wow, i was there, that brought back such sweet memories, thank you

  • What a musician! What a human being!I will cherish till my death the memory of me sound-engineering for him a few years ago in Chicago for a stage program.

  • @thechicagoechoes u r a lucky person!!

  • Thank you! Absolutely beautiful!! Very sweet.

  • Maharaji is digging this so much! Love it...

  • Fantastic! I was there and the music was intoxicating!

    Wonderful stuff

  • Chandra1510

That was a blissful perfromance by Bismillah Khan for Maharaji.

  • That was a beautiful pefromance I am blissed.

  • excellent

  • I've seen many of his videos, but the "feeling" he had performing at this gathering for Maharaji before such an appreciative audience truly reflects in his preformance...he had really enjoyed this gig...it shows!!

  • Really Beautiful...

  • In today's electric guitars and synthesizers, ppl ve forgotten of natural melody... this is a perfect example of classical melody!

  • Beautiful!

  • Such a beautiful moment, such a beautiful event. As always.
