yes. one megapixel is one million pixels. this is the same as 24.6 megapixels.

galeharoldfan -man,the sony DSRL a900 is another group cameras(d700nikon,5d,5dmk2),of­course mk3 end d3x is much better.but sony is incredible at landscape image.i use this camera,so never:but never i'm not changing with another camera.

yes the canon and nikon flagship is better than the sony in image quality and noise control

BUT the reasons why i would prefer sonys flagship is much more interesting than canon or nikon. its amazing view finder, its MUCH cheaper price tag for full frame flagship and the anti- shake sensor. i mean that anti- shake alone will have you a TON of money on lens!!!. and you get great images during low light!. i mean what a bargin!

In dpreview the Sony A900 is shown to have higher dynamic range than all of its full-frame competitor. Canon sacrificed color rendition in the 5dmkii with a dysfunctional red channel in their sensor, for better noise performance. Noise is only part of the equation to a good image, and I think Sony focused on the more important aspects.

yeah and its still 3 grand for the body. maybe if you got good connections and or work at a camera shop like say wolf camera you could probably steal one. i would if i could. i dont believe that the mark 3 and the nikon d3x is better it all depends on who the photographer is that takes the picture.

they are both great cameras, true.

but the same remains true for the a900 that has been true since sony started its alpha lineup.

the fact that every single lens has image stabilization is unrivalable. 'nuff said IMO.

no its not at all!, but still very impressive with 24mp, and Sony with ZEISS optics is up in the Hasselblad class!
