Just see, how the tonal structure was becoming more and more complicated: I have placed these composer with tonal structure from the simplest to the most “overloaded”: Beethoven → Schumann → Chopin → Alkan → Moszkowski → Lyapunov → early Scriabin → Medtner → Szymanowski. Does anyone agree? And who’s gonna be the next one (tonal, of course)?
