@paulj0557 Absolutely untrue. Her grandchildren were well aware of her accomplishments and occasionally accompanied her to tributes and revivals of her films. One grandaughter, Sarah Lowe, even went into the business - there's a clip of her right here on youtube recreating the dance routine for the title number of 42ND STREET while her grandmother's movie is being projected behind her.
@drsunshine1959 I saw that video of her grand kid a while back and that's what made me wonder why this person had written this...or did I hear it. For some reason I recall Robert Osborn on TCM say something to the effect of ' Ruby's grand children were virtually unaware of their Grandmothers career...' All I can say is that I'm a sucker for that brand of cute that Ruby Keeler, Helen Kane, Ginger Rogers, and Margie Hines had. It doesn't exist anymore. The 1940's killed it off unfortunately.
dick powell and ruby keeler have always been my favorite screen couple from the 1930s.

Miss Keeler told me that this was her favorite of all the films she made.

@drsunshine1959 I read where Ruby didn't tell her grand children about her career. What was that all about?
