Nah he really didn't. The songs of this album were demos leaked to the public. So the first song is commonly referred to as untitled 01, second untitled 02 and so on.
there's a solo concert that Jesse did where he explained this song. It's about a girl that he knew when he was growing up that was in love with him and he never really got it until he was 27, hence the metaphor 'you were the light to which my eyes could not adjust.' then as he got older, he realized that he missed out on a wonderful girl and broke her heart, but he's glad she found someone that was good for her. it sounds like he was one of those really jerky, blind guys. He's amazing though. <3
That's awesome. I'm glad he takes the time to explain songs (every once in a blue god damn moon). This is my favorite of the "Fghtffyrdmns" demos, its so melodic, and it really makes me feel like wasting away until that last heartwarming lyric, "I am glad that you found a good man."
ugh, TDAGARIM =/= concept album. it's a damn coincidence they all make sense that way, and in that they dont even make sense 100%. plus, handcuffs was their standard end-of-the-album-(semi)acoustic song. but this time vin, brian and gar all join in.
well when the demos were leaked (not released) jesse was not happy with them at all, he loved as written songs but not the way they were recorded, and it caused him to become real insecure about them, hence only two (?) i think making it onto the album (sowing season and luca). it actually turned out for the best i think because it forced him to write new songs for the album and the album came out brilliantly
ha that's brilliant! i've pieced that together in the back of my mind but never consciously realized the connection between the lyrics. one song a younger jesse looking at this girl as "the sun"; and then an older, more wiser and maybe more bitter jesse realizing in disillusionment that she isn't
yeah i read somewhere that msot of the album is about that girl and him finding out she was getting married, and how he was too like much of the 'rockstar' cliche with the partying and stuff
what do you mean about fight off your demons? i thought that was a tentative title for the third album. that's very interesting though, do you know anything else about the girl, like any other songs written specifically about her?
well...reguardless of how they were leaked...i consider the demos their own album and an evolution to what we got later
tdagarim... i really like to think that most of that cd isnt about a girl... yeah they are mentioned... but i prefer to think that jesse lacey is... "deeper" than that ...?
i dont think its a concept album... although i like them... i dont think its "quite" there... its more like... well...its a concept with no actual meaning... yeah...they're there... but i really like to think its .... a bit more i guess... maybe im pedestaling it
it's almost a fact that most of it is about him dealing with religion and faith (or lack of faith)
Limousine was written about an accident that was all over the news about a girl going to her mom's wedding with her mom in a limo, a drunk driver crashed into them and the little girl died. I think the archers bows are broken is a clear example about the religion theme of the album. Also, fight off your demons is sort of the name for the demos..
he coppied the title of this song off of neutral milk hotel!!!

im just talkin anyway

Actually, if you look at it, it's only about half the songs written about this girl. (in tdagarim)
But there's a lot of songs on there that are so much more than that, I think. Maybe I'm just overanalyzing them.
Totally agree with you about the demos being their own album thing too.
