  • very nice :}

  • Very beautiful, but what book/version did you use to learn the song? Because the one I learned had all the original dynamics/ornamentation Bach wrote, and many of the dynamics in this one are different. Very beautifully done though!

  • wtf?! No, seriously... WTF?!

  • needs more movement, shaping, faster, correct wrong notes, breathe!!!! anyways, well done! :)

  • needs more movement, shaping, and faster, please.

  • This is really lovely. Don't listen to the pedantic nitpickers.

  • @coffemuse hey to make critic is not to be nitpicker!!! why do you think that???

  • You should apply to Juillard... seriously

  • I think you played at the most enjoyable tempo I've heard so far! Please check out my video, which I made after seeing yours:)

  • i dont get it. people have quite the nerve to point and nitpick flaws; are you really that insulted by it? how about just enjoying it? i mean i hear the mistakes but i'm not going to be stingy about it.

  • Too many mistakes and very uneven playing. Would not play this in public as it is. Still, there is some musicianship in it so it's better than a "perfect" midi file.

  • Uhhhh..... 2:33.... WTF??

  • Great music!

  • i wouldnt have used pedal on this piece...

  • 0:41

    fix it !

  • BRAVO! Wonderfully clear execution. Sounds as though more than one instrument is being played. Your ornamentation is sensitive. Thank you for sharing.

  • une lecture de ce concerto italien trop sage;il y manque le feu sacré !!

  • i played this for my grade 8 and i can honestly say i did a better job than this guy. there was no definition between the tutti sections and concertino. Thats what i think at least

  • Bach is mimicking the "Concerto Grosso" form with the keyboard alone. The first section, until the perfect cadence is the entire orchestra, and then turns into accompaniment with soloist. In the case of the Italian Concerto, the keyboardist is the tutti orchestra, the orchestral accompaniment and the soloist!

  • This piece was written for the harpsichord, on which mistakes are more noticeable. On the piano, slight sloppiness would usually go unnoticed. The piano's main advantage is expression, which the harpsichord lacks, but could be somewhat faked. The clavichord shares the piano's touch sensitivity, but is too quiet for anything larger than a modest living room. In Bach's day, if the instrument is not specified, it could be played on any keyboard instrument available.

  • i know it can be pretty exhilarating after successfully performing 2:09-2:17, but after it happens, keep those eights short, and keep the dynamics low. was that sustain I heard at 2:47? Damn Bach would hate you for that... if he knew sustain had been invented he'd turn in his grave. this is structural baroque, not romanticism. again, overall, not bad. tough piece.

  • By the way Mr. perfect. First of all Bach would not have turned in his grave because he was very open-minded to all new inventions of the piano and the performance is very clear, so there is no need to critizise. Second you may be wrong about what you have said with the "structural baroque". I think you have never heard Bach played by Jazzmusicians so please do not write things in the comment, which may be wrong.

  • this is not Presto- don't rush.

that and get more practice performing in front of people.

    other than that, good stuff.

  • Really captivating, not flawless though

  • You can tell his nervous. I would be nervous too if I'm playing for my graduation recital. The left hand sounds stiff and looses the rhythm sometimes. The backbone of the piece is the left hand, so it looses some structure when mistakes happens.

  • Little bit strange in Rhythm.

I have the CD that the music is not like this.

Do the player in hurry or thinking when he is playing ?

  • the music is hardly "like in our CDs" and it doesnt have either. u can hear 10.000 versions of the same piece. On top of that this interpretation is pretty ordinary and has noth below or above average. So i dont understand what ur surprise is based on

  • The surprise is based on being totally naive about music.

  • Wooow...thats really not good performance :( I mean, I´ve heard worse, but the people I know who played it badly didn´t publish it proudly on the internet ;)

  • You are cutting the rests at the opening short - quite a bit. They are part of the music :)

  • very good i always loved this piece by Bach. the people who comment about the "interpretation" are idoits because all "baroque" music not classical. Is completely open to whatever interpretation the player decides to play as long as he plays the notes that are written. if anyone does like it then you play it the way you want to. end of story

  • I'm playing this song right now too.

when the melody is in the left hand, make sure bring the right hand's volume down so the melody isn't drowned out.

  • bach is incredibly difficult to perform.... any slight rhythmical mistake on any note can throw off the whole piece!! well done on a fantastic performance (great job covering up any slight mistakes) and you had great musical interpretation, which is often difficult in Bach to read thru the thick lines!!

  • thank you. it may not be perfect, but you play all from memory. whatever I enjoyed your performance. thank you

  • Congratulations from italy!

  • did i say that listening to you playing this song is amazing! its my 20th time i think or more.wow...sooo good!!

  • i like it!

but i cant show you any of mine, cause, i can barely play, although i strive to.

can you play the ave maria of bach?the piano solo version? the ones i see on youtube are idfferent then the ones in my 'bach complete piano solos" book and i dont understand why.

  • Would everyone kind enough to provide criticism of this performance please direct me to the caps of their own performances?

It would be good to see what you can do.

  • you dont have to be able to play a piece to criticise it.

  • I liked this! You play it with much dynamic and some rubato very nice, but mabye a little to much! What you do great is covering your mistakes and that is professional :) on a piece like this the mistakes is very easly heard, but to someone who dont know this piece this sounds great! Well done. Mabye it would be nice a bit slower? and one more thing the part at 2:10 was very nice, that is hard to play, but at 2:15 is the place for rubato and piano and cres :)

  • is your piano flat? or is this an older recording?

i just listened to another recording of this, and the tonal difference is, although slight, really off putting.

    good playing btw!

  • Tempo Maestro, Tempo!

  • Bach, 6 1 mito!

  • A perfect example of how this piece should not be played!

  • I don't understand. What is wrong with this interpretation?

  • it's played very messy. if you play bach you play it to technically perfection or not at all. that's whats wrong with this performance

  • i'd just like to congratulate everyone who found the mistakes to this piece...very well done to you.

  • mistake right at the beginning ... but good performance overall :)

  • bravo! extraordinaire interprétation! etes vous concertiste? jaimerais avoir des conseils sur mes enregistrements bien quils ne soient pas tres aboutis encore. Merci

  • I'm imagining to listen this piece in harpsichord. I bet it's magnificent.

  • I am trying to learn this song as well. Your video is one that I keep returning to to see what it should sound like. :-) Great job.

  • Bravo!

  • You play Bach musically. Congratulations.

  • I wish I could see some of the work of some of the critics on you tube but suprisingly there is never any.

  • Good performance, just some mistakes, e some pedal in polifonic points.

  • My life is forever haunted by classical music like this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Unlike a lot of piano videos on youtube, this was definitely worth hearing. Thank for posting it.

  • Good, it could have more passion it is a concerto grosso after all. Make sure you define the tutti sections more! It still doesn't make the piece any easier, you have not idea how many times i've screwed it up in performance.

  • Gee, uh, "nervous"? Why would anyone be nervous when their college degree is on the line? ... Seriously, this is a commendable performance when you realize the pressure that is on this performer.

  • I've heard better but still very good!

  • Beautiful!

  • I am a graduated pianoteacher, in my opinion you play beautifully and with feeling.

  • dude, i'm in 7th grade, and i play better, (less nervous)

  • Great Job!

  • dude, no you don't, I understand maybe your parents and family say you do, they're not going to give you an objective opinion of your playing. Post a video of you playing, and we'll put it to rest.

  • too nervous

  • being "nervous" is not a critical comment. im afraid u need to be more clear about what u dont like. Italian players were "nervous" when they won the soccer world cup, but they did it, and were -obviously-technically good
