When I press the "w" key it moves forward but it doesn't stop. Even after I take my finger off of it. Also when I press the other buttons nothing happens. Someone please help me because I just got the game today. :'(

You didn't have to delete the whole tf folder, just the CFG folder.

I had the same thing happen whenever I created my own server... but I didn't have to delete my "tf" folder. I just started recording a demo, and that fixed the problem.

This looks more like something wrong with the actual files than with the "rates" thing. Changing rates does not do anything this drastic client-side, it just makes the pipe bigger to make your connectivity work better.

Even better, install Linux and Wine. Steam and (from what I can tell) all Source-based games run smoothly in Wine.

That seems reasonable.

If not i'd try wiping ur registry of all tf2/source related stuff... but plz plz plz dont if u dont know how. U can really screw things up if u dont know what ur doing in the registry editor.

Hi, can you try to use your melee weapon constantly? (it works best with a fast one, like the scout one... I didn't test the soldier...). It works with some other fast weapons like the flamethrower too. If you go back to the normal height doing this, then this might be the same bug I encountered a few months ago... but I thought it was only a bug between TF2 and Wine, as I was playing TF2 on Linux back then... and it "solved itself" one day, after a Steam/TF2 update...

Ok, Tharg in your Steam forum post has the solution :p I can reproduce it too. It is triggered by starting a server with only one player as maxplayers. Increase it. If you don't want others to connect to your server, set a password.

I just reported it to Valve BTW. Easy workaround, but still confusing for people who try to start a server with "maxplayers 1".

This particular effect doesn't occur on actual servers, but a similar effect does; all players will freeze in spot for about half a second, then 'teleport' to where they actually are.

Seems like your having connection issues, but to your OWN lan server which is very weird.

Does this occur on actual servers? Also, do you have the soldiers boots?
