The first time I fought the fear he freaked me out D:

dude, did you know that if you poison the pain, and stun him with a stun grenade (while he's complaining about the food being poisoned) when you shoot him with regular ammo (not tranquilizers)

you can drain him of stamina instead of health?

pretty useful to do a quick non-lethal boss "kill" to get the camouflage and useful to get a non lethal play-through

That means during this whole fight with The Fear, Snake was literally Solid Snake ^^

Can I just say I recently did my first run of this game and this fight was a NIGHTMARE. I didn't get batterys for my thermal goggles so they would die quickly... I had to defeat him without them...Doesn't help that have horrible vision as it is.

easy way to beat the fear:

use the fake death pill wait for him to come revive and then throw a stun grenade

then get the patriot and stamina kill him

I think I've only been able to tranq the Fear once. It's so not worth it.

I never really had too much trouble using the XM16E1 in bossfights. The main issue is just remembering that since it's still 1964 you've only got 20 rounds with the sucker. XD That said, the AK is a nice fun killer in its own right. >:3

the fear is easily the stupidous most retarded fight ever. When i first saw this i was 9 and i was like "wtf he broke his arms? what an idiot this should be easy." and then he kept eating...it sucked...

Another trick to getting his camo is to take the fake death pill, wait for him to go to you and turn around, then revive yourself, throw a stun grenade and unload your AK into him which drains his stamina for some reason. it only takes about one clip to take him down but you can only do the fake death trick once on him.

I had to go through this game on easy because I'm the single worst player at this game in history, and I still tried to stamina kill him (I was aiming for no kills). The battle took what felt like 20 minutes and I shot him so many times it looked hystarical how many darts were stuck in him. The number of tranqulizer bullets in his ass alone was priceless.

use rotting food to nail him and if you can find him and catch him of gaurd nail him shoot him as many time's as you can cus thats how i do it and one time using the fake death pill to lure him to you

this boss is mad easy, on any difficulty, all you have to do is throw like 5 poison frogs, and when he goes to eat them, he gets slower, and thats when you strike.

@mufflermetal26 yeah when he has like half his stamina left just throw out some rotten food that you might have or kill the frogs in the area and throw them to him. Not only do you get a free shot and he wont gain any stamina but he will actually puke which makes him lose even more stamina.

Oof, that was painful. Yeah, I couldn't find a way to tranq him properly without either getting massively lucky and having him stop right above me or figuring out the rotten food trick.

I do have videos for the next boss fight in case you need the a visual on spots to search from.
