@HELLbillytrucker Lloyd Price did two versions of this song, the one you're thinking of, and this "cleaned up" version they could play on American Bandstand without complaints about the drinking, gambling, womanizing and killing. I think the Bandstand version is a little faster, too. You can find both versions on several of Lloyd's Greatest Hits CDs.

Absolutely LOVE this movie. Bought the VHS about 5 years ago at a Dollar Tree. I'm going to have to buy the DVD. Does anyone know if the DVD has commentary on it, such as interviews with the cast?

@cdasa005 The dvd that I have doesn't have anything extra on it. Just the movie. I would keep your VHS, too. A lot of the songs are different on the DVD than they were on the vhs, and it makes me sad. I miss the old songs. :(

@rosetta1960 I have no idea why they are different. :( It's only some of the music that is different. All the video is the same. Just a few of the songs, but most of them were my favorite songs. I was really disappointed and very sad that I gave away my VHS copy. :(

@LuvWinchesterMen The Copyright ran out. When they originally made the movie, they bought the rights to the songs for X number of years. When the time came to release on a new medium, the copyrights have to be negotiated again from scratch. Sometimes that's just too much money in comparison to what they expect to make on a new release, so they get cover artists. Much cheaper than original artists. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen.

@LeChatonAvecUnFouet - That explains a lot. I bought the 80s movie Little Darlings with Tatum O'Neal and Kristy McNichol and the songs were different which pissed me off. It takes away from the original as the music is a big part of the movie.

Other interesting notes: Louanne is played by Page Hannah, who is Daryl Hannah's sister. Harley is played by the son of Tyrone Power. The girl who says "10? are you sure?" is Carrie Hamilton, the late daughter of Carol Burnett; she died at age 38 of cancer. Lots of cool trivia on this movie.

OH MY GOD best film ever, me and my sister used to watch this on vhs everyday when we were younger and somehow lost the tape, i bought in on dvd recently and it still has the same magic, such a great film, and best music ever!
