A guy gets a call from his girlfriend telling him that she's pregnant. "Oh crap" he says, "don't let my wife know. I'll tell you what. When you have the baby, call me and just say 'spaghetti'. Few months later his wife gets this strange call. He asks what it was, and she says, "I don't know, some girl just said spaghetti, spaghetti, spaghetti, spaghetti, spaghetti, two with meat balls."
Another one of the great renditions of this classic tune. Hy Zaret and Lou Singer, its authors would be proud! But Josh White would be even prouder! Lil Rev
"One Meatball" is much much older than Calvin Russell or Ry Cooder! It dates back to the Great Depression (and I don't mean the SubPrime Mortgage Crisis!). Josh White may have had the first hit with it, but he didn't write it either. Some say it's an old Yiddish tune from the "old country".
I rater not listen to someone talking when they should be singing. Bad audio.

It actually dates back to right after the Civil War and is an adaptation of a tune called 'The Lone Fish Ball'.

Ry Cooder credits Louis Singer & Hy Zaret for the song on his eponymous album.
