First time I heard "Chesterfield King" was through Face to Face, watching one of the videos right now I saw this argument of two bands and I came here to check this cover.

They are totally different, but they are both awesome, so stop whining and enjoy it=)

Comparing this to Jawbreaker's version is not even a reasonable comparison to make. They are so vastly different. I think this version has it's own charm. I like it a lot. Jawbreaker is one of my all-time favorite bands, but it is pretty cool to hear what this guy did with this song. He did his own thing with it.

@rudestoftherude I haven't heard the Face To Face version, but I can't envision it being a whole lot different than the Jawbreaker version. After all... they are similar bands to begin with. It would be like Pearl Jam covering a Stone Temple Pilots song, or vice versa.

i love how people's simplistic outlook on music really shows when they compare this version to the original...ya more power to jawbreaker for comin' up with this 1st but its damn near idiotic to NOT see how beautiful this cover is! this song move me in ways i cant explain...it sound so simple but to the untrained ear but the real simplier boring version is jawbreaker's version...i think that band would even be glad that this cover is out there

Its an alright alternate take on it, but jawbreaker's gritty, raw, honest version is still the best.

This version just seems way off. No offense to fans of them but jawbreaker's version just has the raw feeling. This sounds very....manufactured and...boring.

Not to say they're bad but just...boring. The music is ok but lacks the special feeling jawbreaker brought.

jawbreaker is a band with tons of history. your cant say this is cover is bad. at all. northstar was probably one of the last true, honest, real, pop punk/ melodic bands. nick torres (this singer) is an absolute genius singer/songer writer. both versions of this song are great.

This version just sounds like any other guy with an acoustic guitar with amazing lyrics(which coincidentally he didn't write). The original is a special special song. for the part with "took my car and drove it down.." i don't know withouth having a gutar in my hand. you can always look at the jawbreaker tab for it, and jsut translate his chords.

I don't know what you people are talking about. this is a great cover. I think its great. And I don't see where the vocals are too clean argument comes from. Blakes vocals were pretty clean on Dear You and then even cleaner in Jets To Brazil and even cleaner now in Forgetters...

@rogerroger1138 I agree with you. Look at what singing like that does to singers. No one can sing like that forever. Blake had to have throat surgery. Look at Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio. I love that style of singing and how much emotion it convey, but few people can sing like that for the duration of their career.
