When Portland would play Utah the commentators would invariably predict what a mismatch Clyde Drexler would have over Jeff Hornacek. After every game Drexler would have 20-25 points, Hornacek would have 30-35. You think those commentators would learn that NOBODY in NBA history could get hotter than Hornacek.
Jeff Hornacek brought his A game every single time he stepped on the basketball court. The great team the Jazz had during that time, when you turn the ball over against them, you might as well just go on and put 2 or 3 points on the score board and once they get their opponents down by more then 20 points especially playing at home in the DELTA CENTER, it was extremely tough to catch them.
I'm a Sonics and Blazers fan, so I HATED Hornacek, because he KILLED my two teams. But, if I were White (not Japanese-American), from Boston, Phoenix, or Utah, I'd LOVE Hornacek.
@farmalltom yes. brilliant. Love the game of this man. He is the poster boy of what qualities make a good professional basketball player. He understood the game, he could read complex game situations and make the right decision and he had that incredible shooting ability. You see great athletes who just don't understand what to do on the court and they have no place in the NBA.
I LOVE that behind the back pass from Jeff Hornacek to John Stockton. 1:07 The Jazz will get out and run up and down the floor and score all day long. These guys were so AWESOME!
He shined with the jazz, but he was on his last legs by the time he got to Utah.I think he had his best years with Phoenix before he was traded to Philly for Charles Barkley. He used to kill the Lakers when he was with the Suns..I literally don't remember him ever missing a jump shot against the Lakers
Nice to hear "Hot Rod" back in the good old days with Hornacek, Malone and Stockton. If only they never were a man named Michael Jordan. Wonder if the Jazz will ever win a championship.
@brettm73 in 1997 there at least should have been a game 7. The Jazz didn't lose because of Jordan but because of bad calls by the refs. The Bulls make a 3 that should not have been counted and they did count a 3 by Jazz that should have beeen counted.
Hell yeah. Fundamentally the best back court ever. It was impossible to play the "foul & hope they miss a free throw" game with this team because those 2 were the best free thrwo shooters in the league.
Finally, someone who actually KNOWS what a good basketball player is. I agree these guys really must hav gave opponents nightmares. I miss that combo!
@Galastin Yes sir, I already knew whenever he & Stockton went to the line, they were automatic. Malone was almost automatic, and he always made the ones down the stretch. If you got into a situation where you had to play the hack game, you already lost because the whole team was capable of making all the free throws. The Jazz have never.
Hornacek, the baddest, flyest dude on the court. Kids on the streets wanted to be like him, with the haircut and supercool way he played, with that above-the-rim athleticism
HE WENT TO MY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!!!

Jeff, to me was the "silent killer", an almost un-willing marksman, workman-like Larry Bird, wish he could have played much longer than he did!
