  • I saw the kneeling posture. This posture is still used today in Japan.

  • Kneeling or sitting on mat were also used in ancient China. Today, sitting is usually better.

  • Thank you. This is very helpful, and something I will be focusing on with my landscape painting.I can see these things would also be important there as well. I paint kneeling and find this is a natural way to correct imbalance with posture. Posture is very important once one realizes that Chinese painting and calligraphy are actually done with the whole body, and, of course, the completely focused mind and spirit.
