Your dad and mine have allot in common. He worked hard to get where he is now. He flies the 737 NG for KLM to and got denied so many times, BUT never gave up and he pursued his dream. He has had allot of influence on me and I am prepared to do the same, as it is my dream to become and airline pilot.
I am sure you are proud of your dad as I am of mine. Very nice video! I love it!
i was one of the best in my class,,,great notes ..i played american football and all the stuff...
i was the bourne for this job...after i graduated with excellent notes i went to the german airforce and passed the tests..included the medical tests ....just 8 days later i had an sport accident in american football and my knie ended the carrier...
I'm so so sorry to hear that , and thanks for sharing us mistakes to learn from , I'm now 14 , and when its time to push my self and work hard , I will never play sports , and when I become a pilot , I promise from my heart , I will help you , just remind me 5 years later
2- I finally did it in 4 months , everyday after school I was working on this and I finally had a super great note..so they gave me my physics for this year..! I'll finish high school in 1 year and now we're in June..I'm doing my strongs mathematics in my summer vacancy until may 2012...It's my dream and it's the best career in the world.....
1-I love your sentence , Never give up the things that you really want. I want to be a pilot actually , I need my physics and my strong mathematics here in Canada , I have actually my physics for the upcoming year but I didn't have my physics this year since February.I was completely demotivated...and in February I talked to my teacher and she said '' you know , you should do your strong science to have your physics because I know you really want to be a pilot and don't give up on this dream ''
Then comes the costs for training, renting the plane, fuel, and everything else it will take about 5-10 years NO MATTER WHAT COURSE YOU Take civilian or military and will be many hours of flying and studying (hundreds to thousands) in total through these years. Also, while not all companies require a degree the one with it gets chosen over the one who doesn't have it.
In total it will take 5-10 years close to 100k or a decade in service and close to 1000 hrs of flight before you have a chance
I want to become an airline pilot so bad.I am gonna complete my last high school year and I live in UAE but i am so confused about what courses i need to take to become an airline pilot.I have found flying schools here that provide PPL,IR,CPL and ATPL and some other courses too. What licenses or courses i have to take first and other ones by order and what is the duration of every course??....and will me not entering university cause any problems?
Guess what , you're dad and all commercial pilots are pussies. It snows for 3 seconds in Atlanta and you shut down the whole fuckin airports for days. Any opportunity they can take to take advantage of the flyer. You still get paid and we can't refund the tickets, while his fat ass sits happy in a lounge with a beer. Fuck you, and your dad. REAL men work full time all the time, rain sleet and snow, and when runways are clear you STILL delay flights, not that it matters to you. Don't reply, fag.
@TheGreenPlague why are you so angry? flying is a passion and if you are just a person who searched a pilot video to make fun of him, thats rediculous, maybe you should do something you will be happy with, that is why we are here to support each other in the aviation industry....
@TheGreenPlague Why should we not reply... because you're a coward maybe??? You have no idea how much work and effort it takes to become a Commercial Pilot, let alone a Captain. "The real men" that work in "Rain sleet and snow" are people who have given up on trying and find themselves collecting rubbish or street sweeping, all because they were too cool for school or gave up 'cause life was too hard. Newsflash... life isn't fair. As bad as things may be, there should always be a way through. :)
@TheGreenPlague ok go retard let the plane fly out in a sever thunderstorm or snow so your engines can be struckened and flamed out no one told you to fly if your that much negative go get a car going far? what do you preffer a 2 hour delay or so to hours of flight or fucking days in a car please die,
@houshidar558 ...I barely understood anything you wrote, I guess pilots don't need to be literate or coherant either. Maybe that's why you're always having to *ahhhhhhh* think about what you're gonna say. Lol, you morons. Commercial airliners are safeguarded agaisnt severe weather, you would have to hit a super cooled rain cloud, and water would have to get inside the pitot tubes. Highly unlikely event. Lighting? Not an issue. Ice on ground? BUY THE FUCKIN SALT & PLOWS, you cheap bastards.
@TheGreenPlague i meant fly the plane yourself faggot do all the work see how well you do dont you get it? pilots dont decide to cancel in sever weather the airline and the airport does ATC will close departures and incomming not the fucking pilots your retarded get yourself checked out and seek medical help.
@houshidar558 > Oh That's what you meant? Hard to tell because you didn't say shit about that, you dumb ass.- (You : "blah blah blah, I aint make no sense cuz i'm a fuktard wit an 8th grade education")
@TheGreenPlague maybe your reading comprehension is at an 8th grade level " im don wit cha 'brothah' WORD?" what the fuck? ahahaha were you abused by your parents?
@houshidar558 OMG, are you that fucking STUPID? God damned man...I was making fun of YOU, and how YOU talk.
...You must be so used to embaressment it doesn't even register at this point. I can't keep replying to you troll, obviously being an idiot is a joy for you.
@TheGreenPlague being an idiot? speak for yourself your facts about pilots being pussies delays etc are so misleading you made yourself look like a simple minded IQ lacking dumbass like most of this community has you have nothing better to do then just write back and make yourself look even more stupid by not knowing a single clue what the fuck your talking about you have some serious issues in your life, its amazing how your everything that i hate in a person.
chill you prick sorry ur 20k a year angers you also that shutting down of flight is so like you don't get killed when a plane that is landing wont stop on the runway and crashes into something though the world would be a better place without your type
oh your right my bad on the grammar but just to let you know i don't fly planes yet, nor do i panhandle, but i wonder where would you get the bomb and what plane would you bomb since im not flying one...
inferences are not good and don't help your cause just a tip for friendly debate

While I could be wrong I'm almost positive your about 5-20 years older that me...
@bruTOP7up depends where your from but.... get your flight training, a college educations and after shoveling over ehh $60,000-$80,000 for flight training CFI it up or find some crap hole regional build up hours and then maybe youll get lucky and find a major airline hiring.... if you beat the odds of finding a job in the majors you already beat the odds so be happy with that. A 747 would be even luckier...
But in all honesty go for it just have a back up plan
Thanks for a great video! I`m starting my career to become a pilot too. I`m joining the army and planning to become a helicopter pilot. Wanted to join the air force, but could not. I was curious how your dad was able to become an airline pilot when he only had a helicopter pilot license. As far as I know, the two license (helicopter and airplane) is different. Since I am kind of in the same situation as your dad, I would be so happy to know how he was able to become an airline pilot.
hmm I wish i could fly fighter jets, if i didn't let my vision drop and hadn't kept wearing my glasses, my eyes wouldn't be as bad as they are today. I would fight to get my Wings as a fighter pilot, but the next best thing is Choppers. looking to go to the United States Military Academy and get my Wings for the Apache in the Army, get my private license on my free time at some air institute, and go where ever aviation takes me.
fly for the FBI, or American Airlines, who knows right?
amazing, id think that its very very difficult to become a pilot.. good luck to those pursuing this career i wish you all luck.. great job on this video, seeing this makes me want to just be in a plan this very moment and travel those evening sky's.
right firstly youdo need 75 k for a atpl you dont get them at univerety at a flying scool modular training it around 40 k although the airlines dont hire because there refered to as low fly pilots sponsorships have become redundant so the only other way is to learn by army and then aply for a sponsorship this is becomeing more amd more rare so be fore you say no way or out like that fing out first
hey im on my way to become a pilot and i was wandering if u can ask him would being a corporate pilot or airforce milityary etc pilot look better on my application im only 14 rite now so i got time and im training for my private so please respond and tell me please!!! :)
It is a fantastic video. I would like to that what are the drawbacks in this profession. I would like to pursue my career in aviation and at this stage, I am in process of exploring the information about this field.
This is a very nice tribute to your Dad. I think I am considerably older than you, but my father was also my idol. Flew in WWII, became an airline pilot afterwards. I rode jumpseat as a kid. It was great. He retired in 1978 as a DC-10 captain. I was really proud of him. I became an engineer, with some flight projects. My background in aviation was very helpful there.
Piloting is my dream. By far the best job in the world. Watching the videos of evening flights high up with the sunset are just pure awesome and lovely.
I also wouldn't mind to be in the police too. But I think I'm going to begin pursuing my aviation career soon. In year 12 right now. Might join the air force and do it that way, not sure though. Is it worth it?
i am 10 and i want to be a pilot beside i have been getting good scores in maths and my favourite airline is ryanair we always travel by ryanair because it is low cost airlines
Hey I am 10 years old too and I also wanna become an airliner pilot. Listen my account says I am 18 but I am realy 10 years old I just lied to get a Youtube account even though lying is bad I had no choice. Hope you repli and also I think a pilot is a realy nice job I just can't wait to get trained and start flying. I also hope you accept my friend invetion to be friend's with you. Thanks.
No...I said he got through everything but got denied at the end because he was too young . Then at the age of 19 he did the selections again, and thén he got accepted.
@Captainbritishair Well you start with most of the time nothing when joining the AF. After The AF you have a military ATPL.. you start your training on small, and go bigger every step. So during yur AF training, you gain all these licences.
@AntonyTH There is new kind of licence these days called MPL - Multi Crew Pilot Licence. It's a new concept and only a few airlines train their pilots that way. The difference is that students don't get a PPL or CPL anymore. They get more simulator training and they just have to do one test to get the MPL. The advantage is that airlines are involved in training and the students are best prepared for the daily routine from the beginning. In Germany, Air Berlin is the first airline to assign MPLs.
you are so luckie because your father are pilot and you can be near from planes
look at me. live at 100km from nearest airport. is extremelly hard to me to become a pilot because of $ ( in my country 58000$ ) and if i wont be a TAP Portugal pilot i dont want to life ( really )
@TheBadameco hey, to cheer you up, be sure to check our naples air center (JAA Training). It is in Naples, Florida, United States. It is very cheap, 8000-12000 dollars for a full course i believe im not sure. It is very very cheap and nice to live in florida by the way, you should consider it! I might go that route because i want to fly for Iberia airlines or Air europa, i live the the united states but i have spanish decent so il be ok, Good luck to you my friend!
i know those restrictions on height etc may seem a bit unfair but theres a good reason for them; so ejecting doesnt kill him, so the load factor doesnt crush him, along those lines
mate you talk dick calvinzolamike im 14 and im doing my ppl at ulster flying club you mean you cnt go solo to 16 am also to the guy who made this video you should be proud of ur dad i watched this when you first made it and i was like i want to do at and ni im getting there im only 14 ino but im starting and i have done 7 hours and i hope to be like ur dad brill video amzing
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Your videos are very good, i must admit but you live off your dads glory too much, you need to get out into the real world. your daddy wont be there for you all your life.
I really dont get your point. Like he can help me getting my ATPL sooner and more easy? No.. we all have to do it ourselfes. Even IF your dads a pilot himself, that doesnt mean that everything just comes to you like that.. not a bit. This is a misunderstanding many people have.
I dont live off my dads glory at all. This video is about how he became a pilot, and that we all need to go for it to reach our goals and dreams. So your comment doesnt make any sence.
Being proud of what your father did is perfectly respectable and he is not living off the fact, so don't be such a nob end, your misunderstanding the point of the video
well you know what mate if my dad was a airline pilot i would be soo soo happy and i would be happy sharing it with people because parents are roll models to there children. and antony only made this 1 vid involving his father to help you guys who get the felling "i cant do it" to change that and say "Yes i can do it, i will try i will get there"
well dont antony my friend and give my gratz to your father
heey im 16 years old and i live in ireland and i recentley got my ppl(private pilots licence) im soon starting my atpl and then cpl then meir then last the mcc...my dad flys for british airways hes a captain of a B777..and im goin to follow im my dads footsteps and become a pilot at BA..if anyone needs advise just reply to my comment ..thanks..
hey ermm im from england i aint poor or ote but can you send me an private message and explain how you paid for it and how much it was for your ppl and do you need qualifications or anything just tell me as much as you can but main thing how much do you have to pay minimum to start ppl
mate your compltetly bullshitting!!! You have to be 17 to gain your PPL and after your PPL you have to do CPL before you get onto your ATPL! YEH IM REPLYING AND NOBODY LISTEN TO MULLINATOR09!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hey.. i'm 16 years old and i want to be an comercial pilot.. but what i really need to do?? i love flying above the Earth.. it's amazing.. but i already seen many forums, but i think know one care about what other want to be..... so please help me, tel me what i need to do for fly an ''747 xD'''.. thankyou all.. and great video!
Often depends on the airline and the amount of authority you have.
For e.g. an easy jet first officer may get around £30k pa but a senior first officer would rise to around £45k pa. then finally a captain for easyjet would get around £75k.
High ranking ba pilot would be around the 100kpa mark i expect.
I was very moved and motivated by your video, AntonyH. I'm 30 years old and just started my journey towards my commercial license. I'll be starting from the very bottom, so I have a long road ahead of me. But it's doable. Anything's possible if you apply yourself 100%. God bless.
wow, thank you so much for this video! I am a south african pilot, was getting heavy demotivated. Now after watching this video, I feel ready to tackle my commercial pilots license! Thanks
Great video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! really touching: Never give up the things you really want, you know, the last few days I was really wanting to give something up an dnow cuz of you I'm willing to proceed...
Thank you so much!!!!!!!! I luv planes my self I'm thinking of working 4 KLM but I'm just 13 so we'll see:P
True. I always used to think analog cockpits were too difficult, ugly etc..but ever since I work with helicopters, and I see the difference between an S-61 and an aw-139..I don't know, Analog has something special! same with the 733 and 738.
Thank you for uploading such a beautiful and meaningful video for all the pilot - wannabe out there. It is truly a live testimonial of dreams do come true.
It would be my honor to watch your outstanding Father's video as. Pilots wanna be out there, lets work together in this beautiful world!
Nice Video. It is a great inspiration for those who want to become an airline pilots. Be proud of your dad. I wish I could be an airline pilot one day. But till now I had a great discovery ride in Cessna flight. Thanks.
WOW! can't believe your dad flies 777. Now Yes we live in a beautiful world. Flying is not my passion anymore, but it taught me one valuable lesson. That is what it feels like when you really love something It makes you want to get up and go even when you are tired, that will come handy later as I pursue my surgical career. I wish you and your dad many happy landings. (If you are thinking about flying that is.) Can I have the song name by chance?
wow! captain band!

@happyness760
You have to take all of these courses in order to even have the qualifications to become an airline pilot.
First- PPL (personal pilots license) is needed in order just to fly
Second- IR (interment rating) show you can fly good and more advanced planes
Third- CPL (commercial pilots license) allows you to fly for company's (aka commercial certificates)
Fourth-ATP (airline transport pilots certificate) allows you to fly others commercially
All of this costs money around 50k

right firstly youdo need 75 k for a atpl you dont get them at univerety at a flying scool modular training it around 40 k although the airlines dont hire because there refered to as low fly pilots sponsorships have become redundant so the only other way is to learn by army and then aply for a sponsorship this is becomeing more amd more rare so be fore you say no way or out like that fing out first
Mr123456778910 2 years ago
to be a airline pilot you need £75 to £85 k so

It is a fantastic video. I would like to that what are the drawbacks in this profession. I would like to pursue my career in aviation and at this stage, I am in process of exploring the information about this field.

This is a very nice tribute to your Dad. I think I am considerably older than you, but my father was also my idol. Flew in WWII, became an airline pilot afterwards. I rode jumpseat as a kid. It was great. He retired in 1978 as a DC-10 captain. I was really proud of him. I became an engineer, with some flight projects. My background in aviation was very helpful there.
boweezo 2 years ago
Piloting is my dream. By far the best job in the world. Watching the videos of evening flights high up with the sunset are just pure awesome and lovely.
I also wouldn't mind to be in the police too. But I think I'm going to begin pursuing my aviation career soon. In year 12 right now. Might join the air force and do it that way, not sure though. Is it worth it?

probprob2 2 years ago
Where does it say that? He joined the AF at the age of 19 ;-)
AntonyTH 2 years ago
at 0:26 u just said it.
probprob2 2 years ago
No...I said he got through everything but got denied at the end because he was too young . Then at the age of 19 he did the selections again, and thén he got accepted.
AntonyTH 2 years ago
thats really nice! Im turning 20 and i just started it.
probprob2 2 years ago
@AntonyTH Ah, so that means no requirement for any PPLs and CPLs at all?
Captainbritishair 1 year ago
@Captainbritishair Well you start with most of the time nothing when joining the AF. After The AF you have a military ATPL.. you start your training on small, and go bigger every step. So during yur AF training, you gain all these licences.
AntonyTH 1 year ago
@AntonyTH There is new kind of licence these days called MPL - Multi Crew Pilot Licence. It's a new concept and only a few airlines train their pilots that way. The difference is that students don't get a PPL or CPL anymore. They get more simulator training and they just have to do one test to get the MPL. The advantage is that airlines are involved in training and the students are best prepared for the daily routine from the beginning. In Germany, Air Berlin is the first airline to assign MPLs.

TheBadameco 1 year ago

Excellent video, People should have a 'Goal' and stick to it - Regardless of all the 'Doom & Gloom' + 'Shite' this world is FULL of!!
ALOT of people 'Seem' to be 'Bitter' about anybody becoming a pilot.
And don't 'Seem' to understand that if you want something you have to go and get it, Instead of playing on Flightsims + dreaming about nothing!!!
Best Regards.

Your videos are very good, i must admit but you live off your dads glory too much, you need to get out into the real world. your daddy wont be there for you all your life.
Sorry mate but the truth hurts
calvinzolamike 2 years ago
I really dont get your point. Like he can help me getting my ATPL sooner and more easy? No.. we all have to do it ourselfes. Even IF your dads a pilot himself, that doesnt mean that everything just comes to you like that.. not a bit. This is a misunderstanding many people have.
I dont live off my dads glory at all. This video is about how he became a pilot, and that we all need to go for it to reach our goals and dreams. So your comment doesnt make any sence.
AntonyTH 2 years ago
Being proud of what your father did is perfectly respectable and he is not living off the fact, so don't be such a nob end, your misunderstanding the point of the video

Depends who you fly, for.
Hope this helps :)

True. I always used to think analog cockpits were too difficult, ugly etc..but ever since I work with helicopters, and I see the difference between an S-61 and an aw-139..I don't know, Analog has something special! same with the 733 and 738.
Good old times indeed.

WOW! can't believe your dad flies 777.
