@ontarioherper I do not have issues with sand. You need to make sure that your filter intake is about 4-7 inches above the sand level to help prevent impeller issues
I have just got a baby musk turtle and ive only got about 3 inches of water in my tank is that ok or should i have more or less. also is it true that i cant have gravel as they will eat it?
@xvxvxvx You can gradually increase the water level if you want to. I would go 5 inches with some items that will assist in getting to the top. Also, yes they can eat it, however I have never had an issue. Gravel does get trashy after a while, I prefer sand over all
@perpetualwandrer I will do that thanks. you have some amazing tanks set up there. you must put a lot of time and work into looking after them. its great. thanks again
@iokeangel Maintenance does take hours some times yes, It is a great deal of work but worth it. The sand in the 75 gallon is Exo Terra River sand. I also have used Play sand, but play sand takes a very long time to wash and clean
dude the red cheeks look great i really love the tank , beautiful ... the diamondbacks are awesome as always , by the way i think you were searching for A sexual to mate with themselves lol ... also i have no idea about the fx5 i hear good things tho .. right now the 405 is running strong, im thinking about rehoming the red ear sliders so i can make some room for somthing else also due to the new furry creatures i have to give up potential tank space so i went from 11 tank plan to a 6 tank plan
@georgeman21222 haha yes it was Asexual. Thats what I was looking for. Yeah it will be some work redoing the 150 but worth it. Rehome the res eh? yeah might be do able. if you can its some more space for ya
@perpetualwandrer yea i mean i like the res but with the added space needed for the rabbit cage and the loss of potential tank space.. i have to think about what i really want to deal with for the next 30-50 years u know what im saying ... the res are awesome but they deserve more room and someone who can give it to them ... i have given alot of thought to what you said about the larger species and im not yet ready for that... perhaps when i get a bigger house with a nice size yard to build in
Thanks man i have watched most of your turtle videos for a few hours now i recently bought a paint turtle....is there ANY way i can tell gender at a young age..? THANKS HUGE FAN
@laughs4charity Thanks, it means a lot. Well the only 'age' would be over three inches. But even then it can be difficult. Some start to show around then, some earlier, and some even change over a week. it is kinda nuts. so 3-4 inches you should be able to see it
@jamesrobert13 As far as I know I have not had issues with the turtles eating the gravel. With clean up for both sand and gravel I keep ghost shrimp and cory catfish to help clean it up. It works out well
Ok I was wonder to myself when did you get a razorback lol I didn't see butter cup did you give her to your mom it's still weird without banana pudding but I know my uncle will take good care of her and have a huge stock tank and he lives an hr away so I can visit thank you I can't wait to see a vid oh wow a 55g that's nice and I didn't think it weighed that much do you take your beardie out? Pop tart is getting used to me you know when they are small they are scared
man just use one fx5, they are for tanks up to 400 gallons, that 100 more than double ur tanks capacity, also they are pretty expensive, about $200-$300 each, so buying would fuck u over, like $600, ones good enough.
ive been waiting for a vid lol the mexican musk has grown when did you get a razorback? if by chance can you show your bearded and how you made the enclosure... I feel turtleless I gave bp to my uncle he was getting a big stock tank so she would have lots of room and a chance to have natural sunlight since its always sunny there
@emostars71 I have had the razerback for a month or two . I will make a dragon vid soon, I do plan however to build a tank stand, and put him in a 55 gal. The enclusre it self is way too difficult to clean properly. It also is about 250 pounds >.<
@MYTURTLE123 Very nice, what species do you keep? Hatching red cheeks would almost surely drown in a 150. It will be a while before I ever start to breed them
@perpetualwandrer i keep right now a red ear slider and a hachling snapper ( never had any problems) and a rio grand river hachling and a yellow belied slider hachling but i relly want a musk turle because i herd they have a great personality and dont bask alot an
finally an update! great video i love the setups for the 150 i just have some little peices of driftwood floating around in my RES tank and she actually loves it and loves resting on it you could try that and maybe it will be the same for the DBTs and the razorback just a suggestion
Dude i really love your enclosures, if you check out my vid i finally got my sliders in a suitable home. and did you say the turtles can mate themselves
@perpetualwandrer yeah sorta want to make my tanks look nicer but i cant considering ineed to upgrade filtration first l0l, and i think you should get the fx5 or maybe two fluval canisters and the hang on for the tank idk i like canisters a lot better! less noise!
@perpetualwandrer yeah cause im starting to get annoyed by the water fall noise :( and also with the canister its less mainance an more circulation as well as water height manipulation
the mexican musk, just hold her for about 10 min a day, they dont like it but they get used to it and less likely to bit you, its better to get them used to you while the biting isnt yet capable of breaking a finger, lol, my turltes are so used to being handled that they will even bask in the palm of my hand if im sitting in the sun, lol
do you have any problems with sand?....i love what it looks like and i want to use it but i just want to know if theres any serious issue

Nice tanks; I especially love the last one!
Is it hard to take care of so many large tanks though? I imagine it must take hours to maintain them all!
Also, I'm thinking of putting sand in my musk turtle's tank...has sand worked for you? And what type of sand is that in your tank?
Thanks! :)
