Thank you so much! Advice on expanding your business? Word of mouth is the best way. Get the word out like crazy! How much you charge really depends on the quality of your work and what your work and time is worth to you. Charging per slice is the best way to go. :0)

this came out so beautiful! my best friend LOVES Disney and she would go crazy if she saw this. I even made a D.I.Y. Mickey Mouse cookie cutter just for her because that's how much she likes Disney. Great job!

Laura, LOVE LOVE the design on this one! I love the use of soft paste shades that you used--what a nice touch! I love the ice cream cones on the bottom tier and the curly 5 that you made.

I also think it was such a neat idea to incorporate the supports (for the rainbow) to the design. They look like a part of the cake instead of holding the rainbow.

Awsome! So colorful! As always love your detail work! Would you explain more about "what happened to cause the defects in the fondant?" Like what was going wrong with the airbrush and how did you fix it or compensate for it? Why did the problem cause the "damage" in the fondant?

Hi BOP! Glad you liked this one! I took too darn long to cover it and it started drying & cracking on me. The tiers were big & so the taller the tiers the heavier the fondant is and starts to pull down & crack. When I realized this was happening, I started to rush to avoid anymore tearing & hence the creases at the bottom! The airbrush didn't do this.

To top it off, as I was airbrushing my airbrush happened to break down on me & started splattering & the hose tore off the attachment to the compressor. I've ordered a new one and it's on it's way! YAY!

Thank you! This cake because it had so much decoration on it, I charged $7 per slice. Typically, the more work, the more I charge, the simpler, the less I charge. I never go below $4 a slice though. That way the cake is at least worth my time. :)

@laurapoopie How many slices would each tier of this cake be Laura? What size pans did you use here & how tall are the tiers?

Well typically out of the 8" (top tier) you would get 20 servings, and the 10" (bottom tier) you can get 28 servings. But since my tiers are usually pretty tall (about 6-8 inches) I tell my customers to give everyone a thinner slice. This cake should have yielded AT LEAST 65 servings. :)
