So the whole thing is not challenging the current system - it's still only working within the current system, lol. Fascinating. I suppose a lot of people think of changing the entire system as inconceivable - as something that can't even be questioned or looked into at all - like a God - such a well documented film should have come up with more profound solutions to the problems it talks about. The film ruins itself by not doing this.
Yes the end of the film was a bit off - they didn't suggest anything that would actually change the mass consumption of resources because they did not propose a change of the current system - that remained unquestioned, as if it is not possible, or as if the way things are are just the way things are. We're told to be more responsible consumers - that isn't enough. Though looking at ways to produce alternative energy was very cool. But without changing this system, all will remain the same.
Many so-called solutions lead to alternative products/services –but is just the same system rebooted, re-engineered, re-packaged (but ‘better’) and the fundamental root design creates the same inherent problems regarding motivation for money/profit/greed.
The HOME film raises salient issues that we are all concerned with. The only single system proposed that changes the entire paradigm and starting-point is the Equal Money model system.
Weather buying Green products or not. Buying new products are supporting consumerism and need money to buy them. So someone is making profit out of it.

@DavidTDuncan Great point here David, producing alternative energy would be useless if the entire system is not reformed in its foundation
Thanks Kelly, no other way than the Equal Money System to change our current ways in this world.
