Good choice of songs. My favourites were Savage Garden, Bryan Adams, Celine Dion and The Righteous Brothers. Unchained melody always makes me think of the scene from the movie Ghost though. So sad.

Many of these songs are great, but the Backstreet Boys? Pure bubblegum. It was great to see When I Need You and How Deep is Your Love on this list. Unchained Melody is one of the best love songs ever. This list cannot even scratch the surface. There are hundreds of terrific love songs. I especially love the soul from the early 70's - it had real feeling. And where are The Platters, Barry White, The Manhattans and Atlantic Star?

Sigh..... the plain and simple definition of a "Ballad" is a slow and calm music piece of work that tells a story. Meaning lyrical focus instead of instrumental.

Ballads don't only apply to music though.
