Yeah my mom gets mad everytime I bother her when she is making her kimchi. I mean the smell is so strong you can smell it outside. You know the house is Korean, if you can smell kimchi outside.

Can you suggest substitutes or alternatives to the ingredients that are made from types of shellfish? I would love to try this, but I do not eat pork or shellfish. Any suggestions would be so appreciated! Thanks!

@ernecai83 you don't have use the shrimp fish sauce.  If you just use anchovy one, you will be fine. Everything else is not shellfish based. Good luck!

The most descriptive answer I got from someone's grandma (which wasn't helpful at all) was, "Just put some salt and this on it (then she held up the red pepper flakes)." No instructions just 2 ingredients.and the worst part is I know she was lying to me... T____T
