I believe both in religion and science. God had a ideal image of the universe, but it did take time. God doesn't just magically make things, we can see that in science. If He and She could do it then why doesn't He and She do it now, it takes time. God doesn't present himself because he doesn't have a physical body, the universe is an expression of God, like an artist's painting is an expression of them self.

The word 'religion' makes most people defensive. Christianity is not about being ‘religious’ but about allowing the Lord Jesus to free us from the bondage of the world and to follow His footsteps which lead to salvation of our souls; to be ‘born again. John 3:3. There are so many religions and Christianity should not be mistaken with the confusion that religions generate.
..............2nd Peter chapter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.........
as for birds before dinosaurs etc. The 6th day isn't the creation of all land mammals, just the ones that are mentioned which also were worshiped as divine by those ancient peoples. Land mammalian carnivores, cows, and rodents. So lots of land animals could have already existed with this text, but it does put birds and whales before the 3 it mentions. The issue is that these ancient peoples had no notion of dinosaurs and so didn't worship them as Gods.
"These would all be mammals " No not just mammals it says all creatures that move along the ground are made on the sixth day. But he made Birds before that on the 5th day. But we know Many land animals exist 100s of millions of years before birds. Are you saying We just havent found any Bird fossils that old yet but we will?
@Greathiway "And God said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—
must be mammalian life because living creatures means "breath of life" This doesn't mean ALL mammal life though. "livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds." It's not everything that "moves on the ground'' the words that are translated as that literally translate to: creeping things. This is a Hebrew term for what we would call rodents
@Greathiway The wording for the 5th day is for birds and then sea creatures that "have the breath of life in them." i.e. whales, dolphins, seals, walruses. But because of the context, it probably refers to sea creatures that were worshiped which is probably whales. Although there could be some link to dolphins and old mermaid legends perhaps? I wonder how far back that stuff goes? There's a lot more for me to learn about it really.
@ApologeticsBenJoiner "because of the context, it probably refers to sea creatures that were worshiped "
I dont see that context in the passages that you speak of. Yes people worshiped animals in back then and even today , but What does that have to do with the order of events in these passages.(birds...land animals)
The Story seems perrty clear to me. Im confused at your confusion: Especially if you claim to have the holy spirit inside you, which is suppose to give you spiritual discernment?
"but a story of how god made everything would obviously include everything. "
No It would need to include everything Maybe He could have made animals on another planet I wouldnt say it would be necessary to mention that. But if he says he made birds and then later made every other animal, Should we expect that means what it say and says what it means atleast in the context of our planet?
@Greathiway Oh I see what you're saying. This is just lost in translation. On the the 6th day god supposedly makes chayyah (the carnivorous mammals of the time) the behemah (the large grazing animals of the time)the creeping mammals (rodents). and of course then humans. These would all be mammals due to the over arching introductory to the 6th day "living creatures" which means that they have the breath of life in them.
@ApologeticsBenJoiner This was a description for the far more intelligent, warm blooded, heaving breathing mammals that the Hebrews often used. They summed all this up with "the breath of life."
4) Einstein did show how newton was wrong, but newtons laws still work in most cases we just added a term for cases for high speeds and large forces.
Its like saying we are wrong about the a spherical earth because we now know its actually more egg shaped. Changing your beliefs by accepting new evidence and admitting we dont know everything and can be wrong is what makes science truly open to inquiry. You think its more reasonable to make a guess and assert no evidence can sway you?
2) No it does not disprove god I don think we can absolutly disprove anything supernatural or from lack of evidence like money in your foot.
But It surely is reasonable that if gods did not exist people would create them and most peoples have done just that. Its in our nature to be superstitious, credulous and fear death.
1) If Days are Ages or periods of time does not matter, because we know the events in that account did not happen. Plants did not come before the sun , the earth before the stars, birds before land animals, nor was there even a first man or woman all species evolved in groups.
@Greathiway This is actually horribly interesting to me. Genesis 1 is actually a difficult to interpret text, which means that so many interpretations are possible so that there are numerous possibilities for squaring it with science. But all of this gets us nowhere. I sent you a long message about this!
@ApologeticsBenJoiner "numerous possibilities " Sure I agree this supposedly perfect book is much more vague than even Christians admit they would like. So what do you think this creation account means, are the sun and plants metaphors for something else? Also isnt it strange you only find the impetus to scale down the text to more vaguery in direct response to increasing inconsistency with science and everything we have come to know about the history of our universe.
@Greathiway " God's viewpoint overlooking all the universe" You think YHWH view can be obscured by clouds?
This is nonsense.
Also you did not even address birds before land animals, you just assert that he must have left out that he made some animals before he says he made animals?
Also you say its not a creation account because its a creation account of earth but an account by how things were made by god that people might have thought were gods:a distinction without a difference.
@Greathiway "You think YHWH view can be obscured by clouds?" Why do you say that? I was saying that the story is told to people who do not have God's perspective.
"This is nonsense" Is it?
"Also you did not even address birds before land animals" I left many more things for you to address yourself. I really have doubts that you want to read a longer post about it from me :)
Exactly what im saying there is no reason to believe this is inspired by the word of any creator deity, any more Then the Popol Vuh or Koran To which this apologetic works equally well to support their divine inspiration so its equally unsupported nonsense.
" I left many more things for you to address? yourself." I only touched a couple pointst to which you cut and pasted pages of mainly extraneous material.
@Greathiway "a distinction without a difference." I'm not really sure I understand what you were meaning here. My best guess at a response: The difference is that not everything in nature was worshiped as a god by those ancient peoples, but a story of how god made everything would obviously include everything. Do you agree that two stories each covering one of those subjects would be different?
@ApologeticsBenJoiner " Do you agree that two stories each covering one of those subjects would be different?"
Im not talking about comparing it to other creation stories, Im saying This is suppose to be an account of how the world formed or was created by this deity, Right? But It is completly inconsistent with what we know are facts about the world Like birds evolving much later then other animals, or stars forming billions of yrs before the earth or plants, Is this not true?

ok fine i didnt say Mammnals either They came later then many other land animals as well.
Im saying What animals did he make on fifth day? Birds and fish , right?
What about the Sixth day? wouldnt that include reptiles mamamls and other land vertabrates like dinosaurs? Right?
Thing is we know all these kinds of animals were around 100's of millions of years before birds.
