  • i like, tall in the saddle, she played the part very well as a gun slinging women.

  • BTW, Lonegan63, beautiful and classy tribute. Well done...

  • I met Ella Raines when I was 13-years-old at Norton AFB in San Bernadino, Ca.

    RIP Ms.Raines...

  • @pncombies I am a fan of Ms. Raines and would appreciate your comments on meeting her. What a classy lady!

  • @foxvienna1 Read her ex husbands autobiography, she wasn't as classy as you think.

  • @mothafraker I read the book recently. Thirty years of marriage, two misscarriages, one stillborn child, lobbyied to save her husbands life, followed him reluctantly around the world, he was a driven wonderul obessed pilot. I think they both paid a lot for our freedom and she lived alone with her children while he did what he was driven to do. A great pilot and warrior, both suffered much for their careers and choices. Peace!

  • @foxvienna1 Never meant to say it wasn't hard for her & I'm sure he wasn't totally blameless, but Robin was a fighter pilot LONG before they met. her lobbying to save his life was more about want SHE wanted that his safety. Though I do believe she was genuinely concerned for him. But when your husband is responsible for that many other lives you don't start interfering in his career. And you certainly don't start messing with his head the way she did. She just wasn't military wife material.

  • What a beauty and a very good actor

  • What DVD ripper and editing software do you use? The clips are nice and clear.

I really like the song too- what is it?

  • Hi ZZTopRockman

    Thank you very much

I use MacTheRipper (DVD) and Final Cut Express, as video editing (both in MacOSX platform).

The title song is If I Should Lose This Love by Gino Vannelli. The album is Inconsolable Man.

    Greetings!

  • La más bella de las mujeres, Ella. Ella in spanish, ufffff, beautiful girl, the eyes

    saludos!!

  • Greetings Lonegan63. Spent today thinking of Ella Raines on what would have been her 89th birthday and realized I have not watched your tribute in a while. The You Tube audience should pay better attention to this tribute -- it is most evocative.

  • Hi Gordon! Thank you very much for your comment again.. Certainly it is a pity that the people of Youtube has not visited this page to pay tribute to the beautiful and great actress Ella Raines, she deserved it!. I made this video best possible. Hopefully in its 90birthday of Ella Raines...we have more luck.

    Greetings!

    Lonegan63

    ps. (Sorry for my english)

  • Oh Mamy!

    hubba hubba hubba!

  • Ella was beautiful. The Black and White movies she was in didn't do her beauty justice. Those green eyes would make a man fall at her feet. I fell in love with her the first time I saw Tall In The Saddle. Thanks for this post!

  • Yes I'm fallingl in love with her fascinating eyes...beatiful smile.....her beauty...

    many thanks to you balerick!

  • @Lonegan63 Ms Raines was a ravishing, beautiful, patriotic, simply georgus women who loved her family more than career, what a women.

  • @foxvienna1

    No doubt..

  • Many thanks by the compliments Gordon. The truth is that this marvelous actress has captivated me. Exactly, she was not the phantom lady in the movie of Siodmak but the secretary (of Alan Curtis). My idea of the title, like fan of the classical movies, was make a homage about not very known actress among the great public. This movie i liked a lot.

    Greetings from Spain

    ps: excuse my english..

  • Ella Raines appears to have stepped out of a Hopper painting into Hollywood. But she belongs in the dark shadows of a Woolrich (Irish) novel. She was the secretary, of course, and not the Phantom Lady, but if ever a woman were born to be a phantom lady, it was Ella Raines. She is more Siodmak than Sturges. The perfect small town girl in the big city. More mystic in her urban world than ever some gowned creature in a Bronte west wing. The glorious Ella Raines. Wisdom and taste survive in Spain.

  • @gordonferry Yes Ms. Raines was and is simply fantastic. A terrific women also.
