It says that because microwaving any food kills 90% of all the nutrients.. Also who the hell cooks a vegan burger in a microwave? Yuck! Sorry but you sound like an idiot to me.. Have a nice day! =)
@MatthewLeelev That's bullshit. Cooking anything reduces nutrient content, the only negative effect microwaving will have concerns flavor. The packaging should suggest "for best results".
I would never bother with a vegatarian burger in the first place, but if someone else wants to they should feel free to cook it however the heck they want.
@MatthewLeelev Done, and well, you are still full of shit. I am thinking that whatever you are thinking is based on nothing but a desire to troll. Troll on, bitch.
@MatthewLeelev Tsk, tsk. You troll, wandering onto a video, make some bogus claim and then call the video maker an idiot based on said bogus claim? and then you troll some more. Might you die if I stop feeding you? You should thank me.
i honestly never thought u could microwave a vege burger but hey, perhaps i was unconsciously trying to avoid being shunned by the vegetarian community
@MustardSpork I've never actually tried microwaving one either.
I recently became vegan for health reasons, and I'm loving it. I'm probably one of the most non-judgmental vegans in existence, and I promise I'll never shun you :)
@Jimplicit thats awesome! i really do admire you. i think vegan"-ism" is a great thing. except i think i like meat a bit too much.... sorry.... sorry :D
@MustardSpork Thanks so much :) I love meat too, but I'm having a lot of fun trying the many different types of non-meat products. I had never seriously considered giving up animal products until I saw the documentary "forks over knives". It discusses the unnatural amount of animal products the average American eats, and how it correlates to increased incidences of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and some cancers.
My daughter is a vegan; her husband and kids are vegetarians and I kinda get what you're saying, but not so much. When we're together, I rarely order meat; first because I know its good for me to skip it sometimes and 2nd because I don't want to have to explain to the kids; I like to share with them if they want a bite. But that package! LOL - yeah, not so sweet. My daughter does have a thing about the wave too. Shrug - I find it handy. PS - have you seen earthlings? It's making me think.
@thizizliz I actually became a vegan recently, after watching the documentary "Forks Over Knives". Definitely a life changing movie. I'll have to check out Earthlings too. Thanks for the suggestion. I definitely don't think all vegans are judgmental (I'm not, after all), but when I saw that packaging I just had to make fun of it :) I have no issues with using the microwave, but I actually don't use it much these days because I've really gotten into cooking the old fashioned way :)
@Jimplicit Cooking can be so fun. This was a funny video and I enjoyed making fun of the written instructions. Good for you - that's not an easy choice but it seems to be the ethical one. My son is a carnivore to the max; he buys our food, cooks it and cleans it up, so I eat what I get and am glad but do try for a meatless meal now and then.
@Jimplicit My church is going to show Forks Over Knives this next weekend. Now I'm not so sure I want to watch it! Vibrant Life magazine did a workup on it in the May/June issue.
You seem like the kind of fella who'll tell it like it is, so I'm curious about something. I've heard a lot of people who go vegan and stick to it say that their minds become very clear and sharp. Let us know if you experience that on your vegan journey.
@SOAHCSOAHCSOAHC That's so wonderful that your church is showing it! It sounds like you attend a good, forward-thinking congregation. The movie is fantastic. It gives a lot of useful info without relying on disturbing images such as animals being slaughtered. It's all about the nutritional aspect, which is fantastic because no one can argue against healthy living :)
I haven't noticed any major sharpenings of my mind, but I'll keep you posted! I fell pretty clear-headed most of the time as is.

@ValkyrieVegan2 I was waiting for you to comment on this, Mary. I was thinking of you when I filmed it. Charles and I recently became Vegan after watching "Forks Over Knives". I don't know too many other vegans, and maybe that's a good thing, LOL. I generally try to keep my Veganism to myself because people love making fun of us non-meat eaters. I actually found the meatless burger rather tasty, despite the bitchy instructions :)

Just because the packaging insulted you doesn't mean I (or any other Vegetarian/Vegan) am a overly judgmental and condescending person.
In fact, basing a stereotype on something like a boca burger package is kind of overly judgmental in it self.
Sorry Jim
