  • THE FUCK IS THE POINT OF A SIGNER? ISNT THAT FOR DEAF PEOPLE!?!? WTF WOULD THEY BE DOING AT A CONCERT?!?!?!

  • that ending...so amazing.

  • While what seems to be a majority of this crowd was lame to them, this is probably my favorite live performance of them that I've watched so far. The emotion is bone-shattering.

  • Also that girl in the bottom left corner signing the words is so badass.

  • I'd let Jesse Lacey throw a guitar at me. XD

  • Stage presence. Brand new has that shit.

  • i don't blame them for stopping their show 15 minutes early, the people on the top risers don't even look like they know who the hell brand new even is, there's like 3 people fist pumping in the whole crowd, what a joke, there is no reason brand new shouldn't have been all over the radios

  • seeing them in feb

     :)

  • that's rock n roll

  • God, he's so passionate.

  • This gives me chills. I would literally kill to go to Brand New concert.

  • @comedian58

I would jizz over and over again and be like :O anyone got a jizzle? lol

  • @idlelifemusic Deaf people enjoy music just like hearing people do. They like to be able to "feel" the music so a concert setting would be an ideal scene for them.

  • jesse lacey's stage presence is amazing

  • Fuck dude. If i saw this live i would jizz my pants

  • Fuck this unappreciative crowd. I'd give my kidney to see these guys live.

  • What a weak fucking crowd! Sure you guys might have wanted to see rage against the machine but they fucking wrecked that shit they should have showed them some love

  • I'm seeing them Wednesday!

  • @idlelifemusic Who knows, but she's rocking out! LOL

  • The top 3 lead singers i want to be.

    1. Jesse "Crazy" Lacey

    2. Brandon Boyd of Incubus

    3. Jack White

I want to know what lead singers you would want to swap with.

  • @K3gan119425

    1. Jesse Lacey (of course)

    2. John Nolan

    3. Buddy Nielsen (not the greatest singer, but he has a passion for music and is a great writer\composer)

    4. The guy from Thrice who's name I always forget....

    5. Deryck Whibley...I dig the new Sum 41 album

  • Derrick knows how to shred....

  • I saw Rage and Brand New, and no offense to Brand New (since I obviously like them by watching this video) but Rage is straight up the most epic live show ever. I would hate to have to play before them hahaha

  • looked like the drummer didn't like that guitar being thrown at him

  • They were amazing! <3

  • is there anything better?

  • The woman at 1:03...wut

  • Jesse would be pissed if everyone started chanting the next bands name before they were done, so Jesse isnt a bitch the crowd was

  • phantom of the opera

  • What the hell is Jesse Lacey doing at 3:55

  • @mrpowan10 aerobics...duh... =P

  • Why doesn't Jesse put on a show like this all of the time. :'(

  • I love the interpreter.

  • @boringerik It's awesome. Believe it or not, deaf people listen to alot of music. I have my friend who will sit on speakers or lay down with her ear right next to it so she can feel the vibrations and beat.

  • brand new is so awesome. why are they all wearing the same shirt?

  • @trucolorz33x it gets crowded at concerts so they wanted to be able to find each other

  • it's cool that they perform this song so intensely when really, it's pretty slow. Makes it burn slowly and more intense, really.

  • jesse always performs this song with such intensity

  • this performance is fucking amazing I fucking love brand new so much mmmm

  • LMAO! do they have a sign laungage traslater on the bottom left!? who would go to lolapolooza if they wer deaf?

  • @idlelifemusic Thats an ignorant thing to say deaf people hear music just in a different way obviously they can't hear the lyrics but the can feel the pulse and beats which is still music and it sounds different with each song. :D

  • @idlelifemusic lol good idea! after we all blow our ears from playing our music too loud well go there so jesse lacey can scream vibrations through our chests, yes that sounds wierd but its ment that way

  • @idlelifemusic you can still feel the music when you are deaf. I have a deaf friend who has a system in his car. I think its awesome that they think of others like that

  • @idlelifemusic I know a lot of people in the deaf community that enjoy concerts. Is it not okay with you that they attend a Brand New show?

  • @idlelifemusic I'm guessing you've never been to a concert, because there are always translators.

  • @idlelifemusic the deaf feel music better than us.

  • @afreijat Stole the words right out of my mouth :)

  • thank you for this

  • @ Thecox93

Nah. Just search "Jesse Lacey lollapalooza explosions in the sky" on google, find the link for the website absolutepunk(dot)net, you'll see the story.

  • HOLY SHIT!!!!!!

  • THEY LIVE. NEW TOUR DATES.

EVERYONE WHO THOUGHT IT WAS OVER SMFD

  • @KenneyTDAGARIM ELECTRIC FACTORYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

  • Did anyone else notice the girl doing sign language to the crowd in the bottom left of the screen? I've never seen that at a show before.

  • @SometimesTimothy

I WAS JUST GONNA SAY THAT...If I was there, I woulda lold

  • @TheCox93 vin wrote most of the stuff off of the devil and god, but I think Jesse was more pissed than emotional about the song, I wouldn't put it past him lol

  • @airball214 I think you're confusing TDAG with Daisy. Jesse wrote every song on TDAG, except Handcuffs. The whole band wrote Degausser; Vin & Jesse wrote Sowing Season and Not The Sun.

  • @airball214 VIn wrote about half of Daisy, not TDAG, I forget the exact songs though. I know Vin wrote Daisy and Gasoline though. They co wrote a couple too, including At The Bottom. Jesse wrote Vices and Bought a Bride. Jesse is a much better lyricist than Vinnie in my opinion though.

  • I love it when he throws the guitar, it's so manly :D

  • I was there with my friends. They didn't want to watch, so I just stood way back. To their defense, it was insanely hot and everyone was drunk and tired.

This simply was not the right time slot for Brand New. It probably wasn't even the right venue. I don't think they belong in a festival setting. They need a dark, medium-sized club. I remember him telling us to go watch Explosions In The Sky instead. It was clear he didn't want to be there. Hate to say it, but he was being a bitch.

  • @keithfan555 he was the same way at Rutgerfest 2010. it was 90 degrees out and he looked like he didnt want to be there. It was amazing regardless haha.

  • It's pretty funny to see this when you're used to Jesse being so chill and calm during his interviews/ live performances. But it was pretty badass how they just left at the end.

  • What happened to these guys? They need to play Lolla again

  • @AlyGandFOB Idk... i don't think they will

  • rad performance

  • Comment removed

  • @SwagProductionss Explosions In The Sky.

  • Explosions In The Sky.

  • the drummer was pissed

  • anyone else notice the sign language gal?

  • you people are stupid if you think he threw his guitar out of rage. if you listen to his lyrics (which are all written by him), theres a lot of emotion put into them. he was most likely letting out his emotion through this song. thats probly why he threw his guitar.

  • He was mad at the crowd because no one left after he said that they should go over to see Explosions In the Sky play. Then apparently he said something like, "You're all fools."

  • Fender Jazzmaster, pretty sturdy

  • Stargate Universe gave me a great new band almost every episode ..this included

  • looked more like he was pissed at the drummer.

  • vin slaying it

  • But on the day! That I show up they'll be completely...OUT OF THEIR FORGIVENESS SUPPLY! AND THEY DON'T HAVE A TELEPHONE!!!!! So I can't tell you. I can't tell you, that I'm dead and gone. So you won't know!

  • I guess he was pissed at the crowd that's why he threw that guitar

  • gotta love the sign language chick at 1:04

  • @THEAndrewBanker

i noticed that too....is this the first time lollapalooza used someone to sign language? anyone know, cuz i've never had the chance to go?

thanks for sharing the video, awesome!

  • Yeah, I bet he was pissed off at the crowd. I would throw things, too.

  • Maybe that signer can finally tell us all the lyrics off of The Devil and God...

  • hahahahahhahah look at the chick signing at 1:01

  • best video on youtube to this day.

  • wow. amazing performance as expected, this song is probably the best track from devil and god IMO... whats more amazing, is that there's a sign language interpreter (on the left side of this vid) doing the lyrics. that's pretty weird

  • id kill a grandmother to see these guys live

  • @justanotherone010 I've seen them live twice, and both my grandmothers are dead.... No further comment.....

  • the crowds shithouse

  • Garrett, come to the front of the stage, plz. You are too cute and handsome to stand in the back, kthx.

  • i dont think BN is one of those bands that sound better live than on the recording. but theyre still amazing

  • wow this crowd sucks!!!! evryone is just standing there not enjoying it at all

why would u even go to there concert!!

  • The little girl Limousine is written about was Katie Flynn. Not Kay.

  • @acoffinyoursize yeah, but kay is the nickname he gave her to fit it into the line in You Wont Know

  • clearly, both limousine and you won't know were written about the same event...

  • Fantastic band.

    Horrible live.

  • @LasseLundster get the dicks out of your ears and listen again

  • Why the fuck does he peg the guitar at the drummer? Lmao

  • Id be pissed if i were brian. probably scratched the hell out of his C&C

  • A sign language interpreter? Are they fucking serious? Where there any deaf people in attendance? If so, why?

  • I love phantom of the opera hahahahaha he ius playing phantom!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahahaha thats so AMAZING!!!!!!!! and they have someone signing the lyrics in the far left corner, which is also awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • whats the guitar rhythm jesse plays near the end from? ive heard it before but cant remember what its from?

  • @atacamafugitive phantom of the opera maybe? i feel nerdy as hell for knowing that if thats right

  • Actually the phantom of the opera riff is stolen from the Pink Floyd song "Echoes".

  • this is my favorite version of this song I can't find any video that tops this live performance

  • I'm actually kinda suprised that guitar has survived till this day

  • @UTMBarto does he still use it?

  • @hiimmooky ya he still does. Its tuned half a step down no adays so he uses it for all the pre Devil and God stuff.

  • @UTMBarto Me too... Fender guitars are built like brick houses. any Sg or les paul... the headstock would have broken off right there

  • @overoath123 Well theres $600 down the drain

  • @UTMBarto yeah. Poor guitar

  • @UTMBarto the jazzmaster is a very tough bread

  • @UTMBarto the jazzmaster is a very tough breed

  • @UTMBarto really?

  • @wetthecheat Ya....do you not see how he treats it on a regular basis?

  • every time i watch this set, i think 'fuck, 1 extra foot closer to the drummer and that guitar would've been the end of Brand New'.

seriously, look how cold the glare was immediately after he realised the guitar just missed his face.

  • All the songs make sense, people just often don't understand the meanings. They talk alot about governmental problems and everyone thinks their just talking about a girl or something. Some do, many don't.

  • these guys dont give a fuck about our government. maybe 1 or 2 songs can be related to "govermental problems" the songs are about relationships with friends, girls and some are about faith and life problems. i think you are looking too deep man.

  • can you hear the crowd yelling for rage in this?

  • Anyone even thinking bout Rage while watching this obviously does not posses eyes or ears

  • I like Brand New about a million times more than Rage...I don't know why I got a thumbs down. I was just wondering if you can actually hear the audience yelling for rage because I've watched this video about a thousand times and have never heard it, yet everyone talks about the audience was yelling for rage.

  • Did you read the description? The poster of this video said the front row were chanting "bring on rage" You prolly can't hear it in this video.. because they're playing.. the OG poster was there... so that's where all the talk of Rage is coming from.

  • Yes that's all I was wondering about...whether you can hear the chants or not.

  • Oh my god. This is the greatest thing ever.

  • he changes lyrics at concerts deliberately. he wants to fuck with your head. his secret's for a buck .

  • you won't know is about his relationship with sherri dupree. kay is her middle name, and also her sisters daughters name.

  • This song is about Katie, the little girl who died in the limousine, and you say it doesn't make sense or watever that he would write two songs about the same thing, but it's not like music has rules. Jesse can write watever the fuck he wants if he feels strong enough about it

  • eh fuck the crowd i have nothing against RATM...but the crowd misses out by sending them off...fucking idiots

  • you're cool.

  • the drummer was PISSED OFF

  • best band that will ever walk the face of the earth.

    jesse lacey for president!!!

  • This is so fuckin sad. hes fucking pouring himself all over that stage, yet with the mentality that nothing he does or says will justify or redeem him. Its about his daughter right? amazing performance. breathtaking.

  • Comment removed

  • this is the best video I have seen of this song! Man, Jesse gets so into it. Very awesome!

  • This is the best song they do live!!!! :)

  • rush1212 is a fucking idiot.

    BN and Jesse Lacey>all

true music is all about the lyrics, and there simply is no comparison between a song like you won't know or limousine as opposed to some shit like guerilla radio by rage

  • true music is how the lyrics complement the mood and music of the song. if you just want lyrics, go read a poem. Brand New is about experimentation as much as about EXTREMELY good lyrics

  • good music is all relative. for some it's about the lyrics, for others it's about the actual music. good music is all based on opinion. 5 year old girls believe that the jonas brothers and miley cyrus make good music. "true music" or real music is all relative to the listener and their taste.

  • True music is not about lyrics...It helps, but Mozart did not sing, yet he composed pure, beautiful music. As Avenged said, it's about capturing emotions. And that is all.

  • this is not about the crowd. its about the daughter he has who doesnt know him. he always freaks out at the end

  • what kind of person would take rage against the machine over Brand New's BEAUTY!!!!!!!!!!! so sad... (read description) anyways.. this sounds amazing! theyre rediculous live! Jesse's my hero

  • Rage are a great band. I prefer Brand New, but i'd love to see Rage live, too.

  • yea.. but who the hell would yell that while brand news playing!?!?!?!

  • Oh, yeah yelling out "bring on Rage!" while Brand New are playing is fucking... fucked.

  • being sarcastic?

  • No dude. I like Brand New more than Rage. It's rude and dickish to yell for another band when a band is playing, but even moreso when it's a band as respected as Brand New.

  • yea.. couldnt agree with you more.. even if you favored rage.. thats just a douchebag move...

  • lmao he could have hit brian in the face there at the end!

    great performance

  • hahaha... Brian's face looks like, "fuck up your instrument but stay away from mine..."

  • if looks could really kill his profession would be staring! LOL! ha!

    But seriously...........AMAZING end though!

  • HAHAHA EXACTLY

  • Especially when you have a C&C custom set that costs like 5 grand! Haha.

This is really emotional for Jesse though, and I don't blame him for throwing the guitar at Brian's set.

  • this is fuckin sweet o_o

  • too many white tshirts

  • l2enegadesofFunk

whoever this is is an idiot

    jesse is a badass son

    how dare you hate

  • wow phenomenal

  • a really clear video :)

  • candiankidd84 you lucky bastard, i live in ontario, and ive been waiting for fucking AGES for brand new to come to canada. and i dont have to money to be going to lollopalooza! argh lucky bastard

  • amazing performance. i love how jesse sings with so much passion

  • lol yeah

  • I think brand new was ok. Although the fans weren't the best.

  • Lol fast forward to 5:00.

    Almost Killing Your Drummer WIN.
