Pseudoskeptics such as you Rich and in fact the whole JREFer crowd are traitors to humanity. Not one of you would last 10 minutes in a debate on 9/11 with Richard Gage or Steven Jones. The reason you wouldn't last isn't just because you are wrong and it isn't just because you are liars but it is because in a controlled debate you can't use straw man fallacies and ridicule without disqualification. In a debate you actually have to address what your opponent says and are not allowed to distort it.

You know I like Alex Jones, I love his passion, and I agree with him on many things, like not trusting the government, but he also believes in god, and he thinks believes in rich people being lizards and he believes in ghosts, and he believes in anything and everything. I'm sure there's some people out there in YouTube land, that don't know the extent of time, energy and money that Randi has donated to the cause of educating the world on the paranormal, I would venture to guess that he, and he alone, has taken part in more scientific testing, more psychic investigating and has traveled more across the planet than any other psychic and paranormal investigator since the beginning of time. And he does it so ALL people will know the truths based on the evidence. :)

Am I the only one who was disturbed by the quasi-religious manner in which Phil Plait introduced James Randi?? Seriously, it reminded me of a church sermon.

The JRF should NEVER be about Randi's cult of personality. The orginization should never stray from it's pursuit of truth. This is where Ayn Rand and Objectivisim went terribly wrong, her movement revolved around the worship of Ayn Rand and her teachings. It would be a very sad day if this ever happened to he JREF!!

It seems that Randi is held in such high esteem for a few reasons...he has always been a consummate showman and gentleman, which is rare in this day. Also, he deftly entertains and exposes frauds at the same time. Perhaps so much praise is given to him because we know that won't be around forever, and everyone wants to make sure that he is properly praised for his lifetime of work exposing frauds.

I'm confident those reasons explain his fame. Randi is a unique individual. I can't think of anyone else who can come close to imitating his method of skeptical inquiry.

Whatever faults Randi has, they aren't shown to the populace. Or perhaps he is such a good showman that he rarely allows any faults to slip out. In any case, it becomes very difficult to criticize a man who presents a very admirable image all the time, and who performs such a needed service in the field of skeptical inquiry.
