  • What the hell?! Lovecraft? ò__O

  • Get the book u get from blackhall in point lookout, and come back to the obelisk. Something really cool happens...trust me ;)

  • @restlessdemon42 dude wheres black hall i want whatever happens to happen to me

    i might have it tho

  • so i herd you recorded this from your calculator

  • nice job on spelling weird wrong

  • Its a tribute to H.P.Lovecraft ^^

  • where is this in the building, ive been trying to look for i without any luck

  • It's off dead space..... It's the spire

  • @Illikeeggs Dead Space 1 or 2? I've actually played both games and earned the Platinum Trophies for both (the only 2 games that i have platinum trophy on) and i never saw any "spire" that looked like this... Are you talking about the Marker?

  • @HardStyleND im sorry i ment the marker but it still kinda looks like it

  • @Illikeeggs yeh its ok :D people mess up sometimes, but i have the game and i went in there to investigate it... if you look at it it tips at the end like an Obelisk so it has no actual resemblance to a marker.... and there are 5 skulls along the back and a lady standing out from the front.... never going into dunwich building again.. if you go bring a ghoul mask or charon it makes it easier.

  • @HardStyleND im sorry but thanks for being so nice most people would just swear and tell me im wrong

  • @Illikeeggs No prob... alot of mean people out there. good to know there not all the same.

  • @HardStyleND Guys its a reference to the great horror writer H.P. Lovecraft, the man who created the well know "Personification of Pure Horror" - Cthulhu. "The Dunwich Horror" is the book you are looking for however. You should read it

  • @OverBlackSands yeh we understand were talking about how the obelisk LOOKS instead of what its based off of. eh, also a little about DS and DS2 though :p

  • point lookout has something to do about this yea i know look at the date i know

  • Point lookout completely ruined this thing, before it was so creepy just because you had no idea what the fuck it was, but then they made it part of some crap quest.

  • @mdude009 if they had made it something like a roumor that if you bring some special rune to it it will raise the king of the dead or something it wudda bin soooo much cooler

  • Dear God! They......! They,........! Build a marker! Someone Call Isaac Clark! Quick! No wonder its full of ghouls! thier necromorphs!

  • @Lostxsoul8o8 LoL! ISSAC SAVE US!!!! AAAAAGHHH!!!! NO! NO! NICOLE!! NOT THE FLASHBACKS AGAIN!! AAAAGH!!! lol i love those games...

  • If u look closely it looks like there's a penis on it

  • @xXLocomotiveXx oh i saw a screaming baby

  • @xbox360rox999 i did at first

  • this place toke me and hour and half to go under the building fighting so many powerful gouls -.-

  • its not creepy. watch the game prey. thats fking creepy

  • i spent 2 hours to find the monothing 2 HOURS, i was scared the intire time

  • Its a mission you get from point look out you destroy a book with the pillar there

  • @a3300 dude, don't spoil the point lookout main plot!!

  • did jamie kill his dad?

  • Anyone else go into the room with the computer and watch the shit fly off the shelves?

  • @DarkJestah nah but a few of the doors opened and closed at random. i was like fffffffuuuuu

  • @Deejay10K Yeah after I walked into the room and read the computer in there (Btw it said that a guy got trapped in that room) I saw the door closed and I was like. ;_;

  • It's not really an easter egg. Its used in a quest in point lookout.

  • @RallenUzumaki1 The whole place is a subtle Easter egg.

"The story told in the personal logs found in the Dunwich Building, the name of the building, the whispering obelisk found in the Virulent Underchambers, and many other facets of this location refer to H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos. See especially The Dunwich Horror. "

  • Your supposed to find the room. In what way is that an easter egg. The last audio log is more of an easter egg since he mentiones a fictional beast from a book written by a famouse horror writer.

  • @Rex0142king

Cthulhu, from the call of cthulhu written by HP Lovecraft lol imma nerd and i love his work

  • @thedudefromphoenix I don't know what G'yeth is though... :/

  • @Rex0142king g'yeth is him trying to say yes

  • @TheUrbanv15 Oh, thanks. That's another Fallout 3 mystery solved. 3,498,498 to go...

  • your supposed to hear something from the statue but i never heard it

  • this is not an easter egg

  • thats not an easter egg

  • I swear to god that when you get close to that statue you hear whispers anybody else or just me? 0_o

  • @Fallout3fananza nope i heard it to, then i did the quest from Point Lookout and i heard it again

  • @Fallout3fananza Dude the same thing happens to me!

  • looks like a dick...o_o

  • Hey! It's the obelisk

  • @kougarkiller16 i know exactly what you mean, it was my first thought as well!, the only thing missing was the female choir going wooooooooo

would have scared the bejesus out of me if it did that

  • That's a column for the dark heart of Blackhall quest in point lookout

  • Dunwich building is bad Mojo.

Its more fun do to after you hear all the rumors from all the settlers near it.

  • Yay Cthulhu! I hope they have more homages to Lovecraft in the next game, that would be awesome.

  • Dunwich building isn't the least bit scary, how do people think it is?

  • @Rhubarbiscute llo now everyone thinks u r kool!1!!

  • @Rhubarbiscute compared to the other parts of the game it's creepy. Think about how you would feel if you were there, some people get attached to the game causing them to find this area scary. It is a creepy part but, it's not like I'm going to be scared to walk into another room because of it.

  • dunwich building is f****n creepy!

  • @bigassgamergr it was meant to be creepy, but I wasn't scared after traveling through all of the metros. plus, not much scares me in the first place. I guess it was KINDA creepy, but not much else.

  • @daStig177 boaster, you know this is creepy, you just too scared to admit it, its fine , it's a creepy place.

  • @harrylaneshow Nope, I am immune to many things, and one of them is fear. I never get nervous from anything, and some of the words that I live by are "what need be done must be done". Nothing has ever scared me in a video game. Before you troll, I have played Silent Hill at a friends house.

  • If you get the expansion pack of "Point Lookout" that becomes part of a quest.

  • OMG its my grndpa FACE ON THAT COLUMN

  • best part of the game, way better before point lookout

  • @StlCardnalz its interesting but not the best part of the game.

  • @StlCardnalz Aside from the quest involving the Krivbeknih, what difference does Point Lookout add-on make to the building?

  • this is not an easter egg again this is a part of a misson you go here when you get the knbrinthina or wat ever.....(pointlook out map pack) and blow up the book here.....DDDDUUUUHHH!!!!!

  • Loved Dunwich. All the tapes from that guy are cool too.

  • That is where you gotta destroy the demon book you get on point lookout...

  • dunwich building is proberly most fuked up weird ass building in the game! i mean.. does it not like talk and whisper to u and shit??

  • isn't thjis part of the quest from the dlc where you have to destroy the book thingy?

  • @Renshato Yes, if you have Point Lookout, you can retrieve a book called the Krivbeknih, which can be taken back to the Dunwich Building and used on this obelisk.

  • the dunwich building has always been in the game but wen u reach the basement level in the original you find the crazy guy who turned into a goul, only after installing the point look out DLC and returning with the kribnev (or wte the hell its called) does the obelisk appear in the crazy guys room

  • @mrlemons93 no, the obelisk was always there.

  • @joeyboy720 nah cos i visited it twice, once before i had the point lookout expansion and again after i installed it and then first time i went it wasn't there

  • @mrlemons93 nah, cause i visited it once, a few months after the game was released, before i had xbox live which means no updates/dlc's, and it was there. i googled the building and there was lore(history) on the obelisk on the fallout wiki. :P

  • @joeyboy720 huh thats wierd, i dnt have xbox live ya see so i wouldn't have got any updates until i got the dlc on disk which is when the obelisk appeared

  • @mrlemons93 Xbox is gay.

  • Comment removed

  • xbox is better than any other game console you fucking gay fool

  • @kamilkamien that is based on? cause clearly the specifications of the ps3 are better wich concludes the ps3 IS better, its a FACT. and we aint even talking about the fail rate of 33%

  • @Twinkies4myfamily so is your face.

  • @Twinkies4myfamily best devoleper for video games: microsoft :console XBOX

worst devoelpor for video games:sony (good tvs and crap but vid games there crap)

  • @anniebath35 what the fuck do you know, thats an opinion, look at motorstorm 1 2 and 3, theyre epic. and that just one example of a sony developed game...

  • @ultimatebung yeah its an opinion. whoop te do

  • Perhaps this building was an easer egg before the expention pack, but this is part of a quest where you have to destroy an evil book by putting it against that evil collumn

  • ware do u find the building

  • @daboy432king Lower lefthand corner of the Wasteland somewhere by Girdershade.

  • This was ment for point lookout but the building is also based off of a story... I don't remember it though.

  • @EwetzG The story is the name of the place

  • Hate that mission, why not shoot the book with the Fat man next to a bus and a shit load of the nuke cars!

  • i hate that dick shifted pile of shit, in point lookout that slut makes 2 mistakes:

    1. she says dunwich is in the high north of D.C, it's in the south-west corner

    2. it directs you to the school of springvale!

(these things are in the german version, i'm not sure if they are in US too)

  • @FreakinOcelot they are...

  • @FreakinOcelot dude point lookout is SOUTH of maryland so since shes SOUTH of maryland youd have to go NORTH to get bavk to the capitol wasteland ya catch ma drift :D

  • @micahmiley1

hm, must be a bad translation in german dlc, cause she says : go to the dunwich building in the high north of the WASTELAND. i'm 100% percent sure about this

  • @FreakinOcelot Must be bad translation :D

  • @micahmiley1

and bad voice actors as well, every dlc has other voice actors and some sound like a nail on a blackboard :(

and the whole game sucks, the germans censored the game to death: no blood, gibbs, afterburn, getting dusted by a laser, etc...

  • @micahmiley1 but didn't point lookout started when the boat was heading north

  • the dunwich building scares the hell outta me even with threedogg conferting me with his neverending praise.

  • @oliverjon80 not when you have Fawkes with you

  • its part of a quest in point lookout u put a book there and burn it

  • Ia! Cthulhu fthagn!

  • I'a Yog-Sothoth!

  • @tetrisclock I'd love to see someone just once walk into a church during a service and ask everyone to turn to page 20 of their necronomicon. Just once!

  • @RobWyld Lol, no I want to walk into a church and say Rapture happend and you all missed it.

  • Goddamn, that would be priceless.

  • what i wanna know iswhat thehell is theghost/illusion you seejust before wallkingintoa glowing one

  • This is an easter egg how? You come back to this monolith in one of the downloadable expansion pack quests.

  • it kinda reminds me of one of oblivions dlcs but i cant remember which one it is though.

  • @sn1perdude22 Probaly won't be knights of the nine,But i know what you mean Its where the ice knights have those obilisks

  • @mattyo96 its one of the add ons with an extra house. its the one where you can get cured of vampirism without the quest.

  • @sn1perdude22 O.o nope you've lost me

  • @mattyo96 its not one of the hgue dlcs(nights of the nine/shivering isles) theres this dlc you can get that give you an extra home. go on the xbox live/ps3 live/ windows live marketplace for oblivion. its there.

  • I'm sure some people told you this, but, it's not much of an easter egg. That thing, is the obelisk. It plays an improtant role in Point Lookout, where one of your sidequests is to either destroy a book you are origanlly to give to an old geezer, or give it to him.

  • as roland, or whatever his name at gindershade said, its bad mojo xD

  • cool i finded then it wont work for me"(

  • Someone explain me,what the heck is that building? Is it haunted or something?

  • It's to destroy a book from Point Lookout.

  • You get the book in the Point Lookout add on and you can actually choose to bring it back 2 the capital wasteland and put it into this statue. It kinda puts the evil spirits in the building to rest.

  • so were is the book that they talk about in the hollow tapes? still have not found it

  • It's a reference to HP Lovecrafts work, which usually involved ancient alien beings of great evil and cults that worshiped them. Also, Dunwich was a location in a few of his stories.

  • jaime is veeeeeery near that statue and.... hes kind of naked really so i kill him ^^

  • @LORDSODOR

" jaime is veeeeeery near that statue and.... hes kind of naked really so i kill him"

I got a finger off his corpse, so aparently putting a .44 magnum round in his head was a good thing.

  • If you have point lookout, then the statue will be some use because it is part of a quest.

  • Yup and this under ground

  • uhh i been in dunwich a few times, i guess i havent fully explore the place out.. ohh by the way do u get flash backs when u enter the building, >?

  • oh and if anyone knows, could you give some insight on what the heck that was whenever you first enter the office room there is nothing in there but when you take a step foreward everything goes white for a split second then you see a vision of what the room looked like before the Great War and there's a guy standing in the middle of the room who says something then everything goes back to normal and the guy turns into a Glowing One, oooo, so creeepy

  • thts jamie his notes are in the building i guess tht the glowing one IS jamie

  • no because Jamie is in the little cavern in the bottom of the Dunwich building, the cavern that this video shows. Jamie and some other ferals fight you when you enter that cavern

  • all that happens when you put the book on the obelisk is a wave of fire shoots throughout the room in a circular pattern and you get hurt a tiny bit but you also get a shit ton of good karma, definately worth it if you're looking to be Very Good

  • @izbeatonu4that has anything happened to you after putting the book in except the good karma

  • @TheSlayer36 not that i've noticed, no

  • @TheSlayer36 nothing does i waited there for hours and nothing ever happened to me

  • its for point lookout

  • its for point lookout

  • i hate dunwich

  • @chazyboygotyou: Dunwich is super easy when you have the ghoul mask

  • Well....So much for encountering "this" interesting event. -.-' I pretty much went in the dunwich building, killed everyone there, wondered wtf was going on, had no further leads so I then just decided "fuck it" and left the place. Now, when I finally know it's yet another place I can wreak havoc on the world its too late for me to truly experiment with anything -_-''

  • now The necronomicon was written by Abdul Alhazred which is who Jaime was screaming about. You need to get the book and Ritual Knife (youtube or google it) from Point Lookout DLC. The obelisk is a shrine to Cthulhu which is probably the reason why it was turning people into ghouls, When you press the Necronomicon onto the obelisk it gets "activated" meaning you JUST WOKE UP CTHULHU AND ENDED All

  • @ProfesserMoriarty

at least thares an intelligent person who knows about H.p lovecraft enough to know whats realy going on.

  • Well if I dont say something no one will. and everyone will be ignorant because of it.

  • @ProfesserMoriarty u seem interested in the dunwich story, just to let you know you CAN mez jamie, it's pretty interesting

  • Comment removed

  • @ProfesserMoriarty by ktulu ending all in the dunwich video what do you mean

  • Its really just a pun. Read the books and you'll get it.

  • @ProfesserMoriarty so your saying nothing happens after you put the book on the obelisk?

  • Ok if you notice jaime starts talking about Abdul and at the end of the recording he starts saying g'yeh g'yeh. What this mission is is a gigantic Lovecraft reference. The underground temple you are in is an underground city called ri'leh which is where Cthulhu is said to sleep until the stars are right, then he will come back to kill all of humanity. The book he has in his hand is actually the Necronomicon which is filled with the secrets of the old ones a.k.a Cthulhu and other creatures,

  • if you get the "Dark Heart Of Ravenwood" or something like that, you've got to go get some tome with occult powers & A)give the tome to the owner of a mansion in point lookout or B)discover the dead missionary in the relief camp(then goto the dunwitch building & use that obelisk with the skull).WARNING: get fire protection 1st.

  • i meant to put the word quest in the title

  • Bethesda made a Lovecraft game before Fallout 3 called the Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth. One of Lovecraft's most horrific stories was Dunwich Horror. Coincidence? I THINK NOT! When I saw the name of the building I was so happy!

  • @ProfesserMoriarty

Yeah and in Oblivion one of the cheasts takes you to a place where some girl has been kidnapped by the "Deep Ones" who have corrupted a village. The church has a book in it entitled "The Book of Dagon". An obvious shout out to Lovecrafts "Shadow over Innsmouth". Someone at Bedthesda must be a fan.

  • If you want I can PM you all the info about Dunwich building.

  • this is the statue where you must destroy the book from point look out

  • its 4 point lookout

  • It was and still is an easter egg in and of itself, they just incorporated it into a Point Lookout quest to put it in the game.

  • Actually the whole building is an easter egg, technically. It's all a reference to Lovecraftian mythos. And yes, it was there long before the Point Lookout DLC was added. You're just directed to it since the book Blackhall is after is also a reference to H. P. Lovecraft.

So yes, it's an easter egg originally. Turn the volume up, it even whispers to ya :D

  • Is that all that Cthulu shit or w/e? They got 5 of those necronomicons locked up in universities somewhere 4 lulz.

  • @dasstu

Is it possible to find the book?

  • @ConstantinIV Yes it is go to point look out and its in black(cant remember)manshon its not hard to find theres only two manshons in the game(correct my spelling on manshon if you please)

  • @mattyo96 mansion you sir need spell check i don't leave home with out it.

  • @ConstantinIV Oh yes, very possible. You kind of have to. It's a quest item tho, so the only things you can do with it are give it to Blackhall or destroy it as shown here.

  • @dasstu So what DLC is needed?

  • @CrazyMonkey124 None, the Dunwich Building is available right out of the box. It's just a hole for you to explore, a little unmarked quest if you will. The Point Lookout DLC just directs you to it during a sidequest.

  • @dasstu Sweet, Thanks.

  • @dasstu Its whispering the name of a Rev in a Lovecradt myth ;)

  • Its a quest in point lookout not an easter egg

  • it is, but this was added even before point lookput was planned...

  • Lol, I saw this, and thought "What the hell, it's the reborn Valkyria Chronicles inside Fallout 3." xD

  • plus its highly radioactive if you jump onto it

  • Yeah! That's true! I tried that and was wondering what it was.

  • Not an easter egg if you have 'Point Lookout' you have to make your way to that thing as part of a quest in it. Only quest in the DLC that uses a site in the DLC area AND a site in the Capital Wasteland as a part of the quest as far as I know.

  • @McDonaldWilliamT Eh? What quest in Point Lookout makes you go there? o.o

  • The Dark heart of Blackhall... If that's how you spell it right.

  • it is the behomoths dick
