pin high means perfect distance. Say you're 150 to the hole and you hit the ball a bit left but its still goes 150 (ball now parallel with hole) you are "pin high:

it means that your ball is even with the pin but off to the left or right. so essentially the distance of your shot was correct, but your aim was slightly 'off' and not in line with the pin. playing pin high is key to shooting lower scores

It means knowing the distance you hit with any given club. That's what is implied. Literally, it means hitting the correct distance on the approach shot.

Most important aspect of low handicapping is knowing and executing the right distance every approach shot. That means knowing the course as well. Knowing how to dial a club's distance down by shortening the bckswing is key to this.
