  • whats that song Playing at the Beginning?

  • how did they chop the fat guy's arm off?

  • @TheCrawler333 Are you serious with this question? They used fake arms. How could you not know that? They obviously didn't really chop his arms off, and using CGI for that would be complete a waste of money when you can just use fake arms.

  • fire cracker wadya expect?

  • AMAZING!

  • they actually put him on fire that is amazing!

  • When you watch the movie it kinda looked like the guy was just sitting there waiting for him to light em on fire lol.

  • Wow, thank god they didn't use this take because he acts like crap when the fire is starting and it would have ruined the whole scene.

    OH WAIT.

  • HA! You wit.

  • why is dr cox doing stunts on watchmen?

  • its not dr cox even if it looks like him its not

  • wow, you actually took time to answer that

  • Wow this man is brave and very trusting for letting them do this to him. I respect that. Plus they only did one take so i doubt the guy had time to prepare fully (practice while on fire).

Too bad JD Morgan didn't have the gel on when he was accidentally lit on fire LOL

  • i hope ur a girl then...

  • Regardless off the fact he was safe howmare you supposed to act fora movie while on fire?

  • I never knew they put ice over the guy! sweet!

  • this is what scott weiland does when hes not on stage lol

  • I loved both the novel and film, but man....this scene did not look good in the movie. Nothing looks impressive when its being filmed, but the movie version looked just like this.

Poorly lit, poorly acted, even with no dialogue! I'm sorry, but it looked downright bad.

  • so you're a cinematographer?

  • Do I have to be to have an opinion? I also saw Rat Race, and thought it was quite bad, but I have to admit, I'm also not a film critic.

  • That's funny; I thought the scene was very moving.

  • Oh man this guy has my respect. I would never do that.

  • this is DEADLY

  • oh blunty, you and your fire obsession. you know, you'd make a really good comedian. you should be him for halloween sometime (or just dress up for the hell of it--it's what i do XD)

  • make a man fire, he will be warm for a day. lit a man on fire he will be set for the rest of his life.

  • I give the pyromaniac credit for willingly making himself light on fire. I mean, if I were in his possition, I'd be worrying about any possible patches of skin they might have forgotten to gel.

  • props on the nails lighter

  • BRAVO!

  • nice work blunty, despite all the hsit on YOUTUBE i can still rely on you. i dont want to get Rick Rolled again :(

  • I hear ya

  • nice "nails" lighter, view askew :)

  • I wonder if this dood looks at his comments...

hey blunty whered you get the shirt?

    I wanna rock one.

  • I wanna know what there making Rorshachs mask out of, I know the movement will be all CGI but who cares :P

  • I read somewhere that it's a plain white mask with tracking dots (whatever they're called) all over it. And then, like you said, they'll fill out the morphing patterns in CG.

  • I love how the fabric looks real, even with the morphing inkblots. You really have to see it in HD to appreciate that level of detail.

  • Totally. I saw the HD trailer too, and it really does look like black dye oozing through a very textured fabric.

  • Im young (14) never even heard of Watchmen before the film. But I do have quite a bit of knowledge over your CG topic. If I understand correctly, you are talking about the man in the trailer "Who Whispers No" correct? And from what I read the ink on his mask moves right? Then yes, obviously 3D tracking was involved. BUT, even though they are working with 4K footage it will be very hard to track from a distance. So most of it is probrably done manulay. A buttload of work though. Haha :D

  • No, they actually just used a random inkblot if he was too far away from view. They didn't bother putting a fully morphing blot that small. THAT'LL save some money!

  • Im not talking about from like 100 yards away. Im talking far off enough to get an accurate track. Like 10 or 15 feet. Ive never worked with 4K so I don't what the capabilities are.

  • WOW! I certainly hope we can expect better acting than THAT in the final cut.

  • The miracle of editing, lighting and selective isolation is sure to clear that up.

  • The screaming would be redone on a sound stage, and I'm sure he'll be burning in slo-mo or some either stylistic means.

  • lol wikiporno has no idea how films work....

  • -_-

  • nice silent bob lighter

  • look at 2:47-2:54...they set his ass on fire!!!

  • 5'6" actually... lol (according to commic)

  • Ozymandias is the epitome of human conditioning and reflexes. The dude can catch bullets. He's kind of like captain america in way. Rorschach is just in good shape for his age but he's like 5'1 or so. Night owl is mechinical genius and can fight so he's like batman. THe comedian is like the punisher, and the silk spectre. I guess you could say ozmandias has super powers. He does catch a bullet.

  • His hand is bleeding like hell though

  • when does his hand bleed?

  • wow

  • looks exactly like Scott Weilnad. With a body.

  • when is this out

  • 3/6/9

  • Do any of the heroes other than Manhattan have powers? I remember Rorshairc or w/e jump onto a window thats like on the 18th floor of a building in the trailer!

  • They're all normal except for manhattan. Rorschach just has peak physical conditions.

  • and no fear

  • that was a grappling gun

  • Which he shot someone with, too.

  • Veidt can catch a bullet in mid air.If u count that as a power.

  • unless you've read the book, DON'T comment. If you have then re-read it because some fools have obviously gone retarded. I.E. the prison riot DOES happen.

  • Would be so funny to see him just walking around on fire XD

  • i have that lighter

  • Nice to see real fire still being used. =]

    Less CGI!

  • well.. CGI is a necessity... But if you look at most large production films they always use a combination of CGI and live action stunts and props.

I dont think there will come a time when the beloved stunt and props department would be completely replaced. It's my dream job to work for hollywood props

  • Fire retardent gel or not, that dudes got balls.

  • fucking brass balls

  • FILMED IN CANADA YHA BABY

    canada ftw

  • yes boy!

  • Yeah.. i could see Blunty doing stand in for Downey, but maybe as costar playing his brother, too?

Anyway, besides dealing with the fire itself, do they do any post processing to eliminate reflections from the gel?

  • Blunty looks considerably older and more portly than Downey. But yeah I can see how they look alike.Plus Downey has a southern accent and Blunty has an Australian accent.

  • you forgot that downey can pull off an australian accent... tropic tunder ring any bells?

  • That southern accent is his actual speaking voice. Tropic thunder is just a movie.

  • i know that already... jeez... just an observation

  • cool production! that´s makes me remind me when i was a kid and believe on this kind of things. lol

  • look at 0:06 the guy looks alot like blunty

  • Looks like Robert Downey Jr. to me.

  • is this movie out? or what

  • comes out O9

  • Whoahhh

  • that doesn't happen in the book. oh well still looks bad ass.

  • its just a riot scene that they assume happen in the book. THe part when they break out Rorshach

  • The prison riot? You mean they never break Rorschach out of prison? Huh...looks like I'll have to read it again

  • yes the riot does happen in the book

  • I'm sold. This movie looks great. Thanks for the behind the scenes look, Blunty.

  • wow this movie looks so cool

  • That shirt's still looking hot! Hotter than the fire :)

  • OH SHIT! how embarrassing, i didnt realised i crosseed over to another video xP

the comment below belongs in "Stupidity of the Console war: XBOX 360 vs PS3 vs Wii - part 1"

    soz xP silly mee... T_T

  • haha i was gonna say wtf

  • well the whole "WHICH ONES BEST" concept depends entierly upon what you're looking for. (from MY perspective)

something for the whole family and to entertain the kids, - wii

    a hardcore online gamer - 360

casual gamer/other means of entertainment (coughBLURAYcough) - PS3

  • haha, fire gel is good stuff. as a special effects tech i work with that stuff and stunt men on a regular basis, got a vat of it at home.

  • That's cool, but why do you have some at home? Could you just dip your arm in it and put some lighter fluid on it and light your arm on fire for a few seconds to freak people out?

  • Sweet. I want some of that gel.

  • They should have saved this for a summer release. Opening a film like this in March? I mean come on, "The Watchmen" is to comic books what "Citizen Kane" is to cinema.

  • HistoryScrewUps Maybe you should read the graphic novel you dumbshit.

  • I can tell this movie will be too action oriented to be any good....

  • XD The Watchmen? Action oriented? Even if they go Hollywood and try to be more action-packed for general movie goers than it should be, there's just no conceivable way it'll be action oriented. Just absolutely no conceivable way. XD Especially since the people who've seen the raw footage, who are major comic fans, generally LOVED it.

You can't be a Watchmen fan and love a Watchmen film that's action oriented. Doesn't happen.

    Read the book.

  • i love the book but just think of it as a whole different movie or an adaption u cant not like it cos its diferent...thats fukin stoopid....just watch it and see wot u think

  • Finally a video that isn't bogged down with comments! Good lord, it is getting to the point where it's futile to even attempt to comment, with no hopes of being answered... but alas... it will not happen...

Keep up the good work, I love your input on games and movies!

  • Awesome! Thanks for sharing this with us.

  • awesome! i can't wait to see this.

  • hey blunty what was the song from 0:00 to 0:18 its really cool!

  • Just a stock music loop... not really a "song" at all

  • o ok thanks

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!

  • i dont remeber anyone getting set on fire in the book.

  • Looks

    AWESOME!!!!!!!!

  • gunna talk about dave gibbons next huh?

  • hot stuff...!

    *tumbleweed*

  • Simply splendid book.

  • the blue guy is Dr. Manhattan!

  • no shit

  • i was responding to willie9888.

  • That is insane. Stuntmen are awesome. He was hot, too (okay, I didn't intend a pun when I first thought that, but you know what, now that it's there, you get to have the pun too).

  • This film will be bad. Just so u guys know.

  • Kevin Smith said it was great. That is all you need.

  • Ummm Please dont be a drown. Who is Kevin smith? Just because he is a popular comicbook fan what he says is golden?? I'm sorry but kevin smith saying this movie is great means absolutely Zero. (I wonder how much he got paid to say watchmen was great.. shhhhhhh)

  • Oh and another thing. Since we're talking about famous people. Mark Miller came out and said that Wanted was going tt give 'The dark knight' a run for its money.. Was I suppose to take that seriously and pay to see wanted as well?? Wanted was ridiculous and stupid and the fact that mark miller came out and said that should have everyone be skeptical when people come out and say things like this. Oh and Alan Moore the author of this book u guys luv so much says has not signed off on this film so.

  • im have a question i have no clue about this movie but is the watchman the guy in the suit and cape or the bkue guy

  • very cool, I love fire and fire-gel and all sorts of things fire related

  • For all of those that think this movie is shit, u can go fuck yourselves, you should atleast read the comic and THEN you'll have an opinon that doesn't make you look like a complete jackass. For those think this movie is THE shit, I admire your taste in comics =P

  • oh it's nice

  • O_O YES

This movie will probably be made of win.

  • Make more rants please!!!!11!!1one!

  • hollywood has run out of ideas

  • Shut up you low life,

It is possibly the best comic book ever written, so the film should be amazing

  • go away sam

  • First read the comic, THEN comment about it.

I'm not a comics fan myself, but I think WATCHMAN presents an artistic and stylish view on the evolution of north american's culture (which affected all the western society).

The "Lost of Inocence" of an entire society and way of life, represented by the iconic figures of the superheroes (at that time asociated with childhood and the inner child).

    The SuperHeroes grew up :P

  • you sad little person

  • I haven't read the comic books / graphic novels or whatever, but they SOUND great, and I really look forward to the movie.

    I LOOK FORWARD TO IT.

I offer no opinion towards the quality of the movie, because I HAVE NOT SEEN IT. Nor have any of you.

  • if you haven't read it, read it

  • TROLL ALERT

    please, do not feed

  • COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • Will the movie still make sense if I haven't read the comics?

  • Now thats pretty cool

Altho something abit strange about being covered in a gel before being covered in fuel, seems like it would dilute almost instantly, but obviously not

Thats the work of a stunt man right there folks :p

  • Wow, I didn't know you could get fire proof gel like that :-)

  • Wow, you'd think that they would just use a flesh coloured skin tight suit, even with that jell it must still hurt like hell. These guys really are the unsung heroes of the move industry.

  • yeah man people always go hard just to make it look as realistic as possible. Alot of the stars prefer doing their own stunts as much as possible cause they love the action, lol. I would to if i could.

  • The more I see of the movie, the more I'm liking it. I still cannot believe the 80s and smiley faces are retro though. Somehow this reminds me of the Transmetropolitan series.

  • this looks sweet, also blunty, i hope i win the nipple-cam, lol

  • It's gonna be a GOOD film!

  • All you have to do to extinguish a Zippo lighter is close the lid, you know. It cuts off the oxygen and the flame goes out.

But, yeah, granted, there's more comedy / entertainment value in watching you trying to blow it out instead. ;D

  • Thanks for the Zippo tip, and assuming I'm a complete F'ing retard who didn't know that. *rolleyes*

  • Woop for sarcasm.

  • Whose sarcasm?

My original pulling-his-leg sarcasm that Blunty completely failed to pick up on, despite the fairly unmissable big winking smiley stamped at the end explicitly indicating "I'm just messing with you".

Or Blunty's inappropriate sarcasm in response, born of him doling out blind contempt to all his viewers equally, because of his intellectually lazy and personally offensive refusal to differentiate between, yes, the idiots who often post and those who were just making a joke?

  • I was just pulling your leg, Blunty.

Hence that big winking smiley at the end to explicitly indicate "I'm just messing with you".

No, I didn't think you were a complete F'ing retard in any way at all...

...until you posted that in response.

  • That is the best kind of stunt, though I would be scared shitless if I had to do it.

  • i really like this series so far.. keep it up =D and the movies going to be great to watch as well.

  • this scene really shows how much of a badass rorschach is. I cant wait to see how all of these events are presented in the film cuz the comic is absoluteely timeless

  • I heard that this movie comes out next year is this true?

  • in march next year

  • got any advice on how to skip school?

  • how long could he survive without burn with that firegel on? and does he still feel minor pain or heat even with the gel or what?

  • im pretty sure hed die pretty fast without it.......and the gel duznt do all that much but he can jsut feel sum heat under it

  • dont remember the riot in the comics...

  • Time to re-read then ;) Enjoy.

  • I do

  • Good for you Blunty , your getting the best exclusives !

  • Stunts make the world go around...and the men that do them.

  • "Episode 3: FIRE" is my new favourite title :P

    Also stuntmen = the win.

  • loving the nails lighter

  • nice.

  • When was this in the comic? Anyway it's cool and I cant wait.

  • During the Jail break.

  • i dont recall that was it the part where rorschach electocutes one of the prisoners?

  • guess I have to re-read then

  • it says its episode 2 in the title just so you realise, cool video, i cant wait for the movie

  • Not anymore it doesn't ;)

  • that was sick!

I wanna do that for my job when I grow up :)

  • I never knew that they used gel to do scenes with people actually on fire. Don't try it at home though.

And by the way, isn't this episode 3?

Or is there a conspiracy where every single episode is going to be #2 just to confuse the hell out of people?

  • I am not locked in here with you. you are locked in here with ME

  • the costum for the watchmen looks idiotic im sorry

  • sweet movie looks cool

  • wasn't watchmen an old comic book ? im not sure

i think there not good guys but got there own agenda or something like that .

  • Watchmen was a graphic novel that came out in the 1980's. Read it if you have'nt it's great.

  • Actually it was a 12 issue mini-series before it was published in a graphic novel format. '86

  • Well, yeah, Alan Moore never does anything quite so simple as "good guys" and "bad guys".

Indeed, if you understand the reference in the title - "Watchmen" comes from "Who Watches the Watchmen?", a translation of Ancient Roman satirist Juvinal's "Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes?", which questions how you can avoid power inherently becoming corrupt...

...then you understand that the underlying purpose of the story is exactly to ask "what does 'good guy' and 'bad guy' actually mean anyhow?".
