Pe-8 was built 96 pieces. No longer built because of imperfect dvigateley.No defense aircraft was better than the B-17.

They just couldn't handle those 20mm baby bottle size cartridges fired from the nose cannons of the Me-109s. Pe-8s were big, cumbersome, and poorly armed. Unlike with B-17s and Lancasters, the Germans could leisurely pick their angle of attack without fear of a deadly crossfire from waist and belly guns. It did have one periscopically controlled belly gun, but it was useless. The Pe-8 was also uncharacteristically flimsy for a Russian aircraft, which is why only 100 or so were built.

Pe-8 has incredible defensive gunnery, I respect it because they were one of the few bombers that could really hold their own in the air, along with the b-17.
