I have tried hard to like BMW, but I still think they're for douchebags. I still prefer Audi and Mercedes. The 5-series is probably the best in its class range though, I'll give you that

Its that obvious Audi smashes BMW, BMW does not stand chance in all aspects and views, from the moment Audi engineered, invented cars together with Mercedes Benz, today or future.
It looks to be a very good car, however it seems to be too luxurious. It seemed to have lost that sporty touch that 5 series had. It just looks like a smaller 7 series in my eyes. If I was going to buy a new 5 series, I would stick with the E39 or even the E60 models.
Looking forward to the sport model along with the new V8 M5. Why is there still a lack of LED daytime running lights and indicators on the wing mirrors. Sort it out.
The last gen 5 Series was one of the most beautiful cars ever, when I first saw it I was amazed, it was like looking at a beautiful and stunning woman, but the new one looks old, the new one is boring.
i have a serious question. i currently drive an 06 545i and i like it very much and ive kept the miles low and im not really ready to get rid of it so it there a way that i could convert it to the new body style or are the dimensions too different?

Lexus, is Lexus. High durability, reliability, but still, it's Japs... No offence, but Japanese cars tend not able to offer the same feedback during driving. The design too, does not match those of Germans... Still, no offence...
When i look at car design these days, i truly wonder where the hell are they going with this. It took me years to get use to the design of the E60, and now, with this new design, it seems like they are going off track. Where has the beauty, the agressiveness and the elegance of the E39 gone?

The exterior is way better than the previous design, the interior is nothing short of BMW standards/creativity. The day there's a "bad" BM, is they're designers don't speak of it like their own son. The passion and love they have for their creations is what bonds it with the people they make it for, ppl financially cautious, or free spirited ppl, the cars adapt for an individual, not vice versa.
Apparently, they're ditching the V10 in favour of a 5 litre V8 twin turbo. Still, as an avid fan of the M cars (except the X6M) I have no doubt when it is released it will stand head and shoulders abover its rivals. The last one's been out for a while now, and its rivals are now only just catching up.
Over the last 6-8 years, I think the most brave and amazing design for mass produced car was the current BMW 5 series. It still looks great today. I have been wondering how amazing the designer can introduce it back 6 years ago. But today what I see is BMW just basially copying the new 3 with lot of marking story that's all. Hope the inner technology has something special.

I agree completely. This car looks like the 3 series on streroids and it just doesn't look right- there's too many lines, too much going on, and the grilles looks as big as my granddad's nostrils. I think the E60 is great (I'm one of the few who do lol) and this is worse than the E60. The 1999 M5 is still the greatest though

When Bangle came out with the 7 series I was surprised at all the attacks. I quite liked that car. Then the 5 series came out and the attacks were even more but that was my favourite car ever. But then we left and we got the 3 series. I hate it. The front it okay but I can't stand that short rear end. Then now this. They copied that back that I hate and I hate it even more on this car since it replaces my favourite car of all times.

Looks like a bigger size of 3 series facelift version which i am driving....the previous design is absolutely more innovative in terms of the edges and character lines first adopted...It seems to to me BMW is getting more conservative this time... was Bangle involved in this?

When Bangle came out with the 7 series I was surprised at all the attacks. I quite liked that car. Then the 5 series came out and the attacks were even more but that was my favourite car ever. But then we left and we got the 3 series. I hate it. The front it okay but I can't stand that short rear end. Then now this. They copied that back that I hate and I hate it even more on this car since it replaces my favourite car of all times.
Please Bangle come back.

AGREED. I like the 2001 7 series much better than the 2009 one. I think the so called 'bangle butt' made it look very classy :P. And the E60 5 series is amazing

No doubt, The current 5-series is way better looking than this boxy new design. This new design is just a car, and only a car. I hate the hideous horizontal line on the hood.

The headlights look a bit shy compared to the design of the previous 5.
But for the rest it looks elegant.
On that rolling scene on the bridge, it looks like the sexier 5 series to date.
Reminds of a longer e92.

That is a beautiful car.
But what i'm starting to notice is the the 3,5,7 series are starting to resemble each other. Like with the head-lamps, and, other little things. But hey, that still doesn't take away from the crazy amount of detail.
