Seemed like KHOU's newsset looked very simular to KIRO's Eyewitness Newsroom at the time.

I have compared a clip from earlier that year and later that year of KHOU and it looks to me that the newsroom set was a temporary set while KHOU news set was being revamped as a result of the Belo takeover of the station from what I can gather.

Yeah, the set that debuted on July 30th was shipped to the station in pieces earlier that month and assembled over several weeks time.

The newsroom, at the time, still had the Corinthian color scheme (light brown + dark brown) and was updated later on.

Was the tuner in the VCR or was the channels being changed from a cable box? The automatic fine tunning seems really slow like the cable system is using HRC, but the tuner was set for IRC cable systems.
