The QCI tones are transmitted by County which activates the return tones that are transmitted by the base. This is how most departments over by me operate, just the QCI tones were replaced by DTMF a long time ago for the most part.
@TheTrenter01 Its basically a decoder for the siren tones. It activates for the station tones set off by the county which activates the relay for the siren and the plectron (to set off the pager tones). Does that work?
This system operates on low band (33.70 MHz). We no longer use this system but... Tones are sent out by the county 911 over 33.70 (the first two tones you hear). Those tones are received by the radio and 2+2. The 2+2 is the small box on top of the radio. The 2+2 sends a signal to the Plectron (box to the right) and the siren relay (not shown) to activate each. The plectron generates the tones and sends them through the base radio and over 33.70 to activate pagers.
Venango county here in PA is getting ready to get rid of the old low band system and that wold make our Plectrons obsolete I'll never miss the racket my plectron makes at 3am lmao
We have a doohickey that looks like the one on the right. I can make it beep, make odd sounds, but can't for the life of me figure out how to trip the Plectrons or Minitor II's. While we use high band and Minitor V's.. I figured we could use low band for special ops, flooding, civil defense (EMA), etc.. No deal.
Make sure it is hooked up to a base radio properly. With the system shown, it would automatically key the mic and send the tones over dispatch. You can see the transmit light come on when the pager tones drop.
I wish I could. Our county no longer uses this system. We still have all of the equipment but it is disabled. If I ever get around to it, I'm going to set up a visual/audio alert inside the station.
So if im not mistaken that was from the accident out on snake road at 3ish on saturday afternoon.... wut a sad day :(...cant wait to see the video from the coal truck roll over we had today..
Sorry it took so long to respond back. It is a Bramco 2 Plus 2. Part No. A01834. I'm not positive where you can find one now. They are frequency specific. Why don't you just get an amplified charger for a minitor V and use the built in relay. Make your own lights. Same concept.
It may be antique but it did work. I'm not sure where you are from but certain areas of the country still use a low band frequency. As I said earlier this is our old system. We are now using a system in the 450.00 MHz. Yes, we do still have a house siren (as most do) but no tailboard straps or beer machine.
Nanty Glo Volunteer Fire Dept. Nanty Glo, PA. Cambria County Station 43. This is now our old activation system. We currently just switched over to UHF.

Ok I see, how does it relay the voice though?
TheOneWithNoLife 2 years ago
The pagers also activate twice. The tones after the first two are just alert tones. A series of two activates the pagers twice. Hope this helps.

No, this was actually from another MVA. Just happened to have the camera on.

Also, how can I get one of those QC1 2+2 tone decoders like that one that lit up?
THEFINALHAZARD 3 years ago
You might want to try ebay. I believe the 2+2 you see in the video was made in the mid 70's.
bruce4382 3 years ago
Ok. Do you know the model number? My county uses a blended system, 1+1 for pagers, and the 2+2 for the station siren.

Which would be more expensive? And as for the charger amp, wouldn't work, I got a Minitor III.

Here in Grant County,Wv we still use sirens and now use digital paging/scanning. Our frequency is 157.450.

wow the last 2 sets of tones is exactly what the tones for my department used to sound like before we upgraded our radio system.

I have one of those old Plectron encoders in my collection of old fire dept radio "junk". I used it to make the tones in my 2008 banquet video.

Wow the old dooms day tones. Perry County used that system too untill they swtched over about a year and a half ago for Siren Activation tones
