The houses in Jamaica are cinderblocks with re-bar and poured cement to form walls. Then they're covered in stucco. They're built like tanks...now I understand why.
We used to have earthquakes quite often (comparatively speaking) in the midwest, but nothing that strong. Just the same, that would have probably had me plenty worried.
