Some creatures were truely disturbing in that game. In general games from the 80's and early 90's had some strange inspirations.

@FlowerFlo1983 I know and it proved one thing designers were no where near as restricted as they are these day's everything these day's is so heavily monitored ESRB and the European one. the only other game i can think of that is really disturbing is Morpheus by soap bubble (now gone bust) as it features scenes of committing suicide and death.
