Hay, I heard that you can get fired from Werner if you 'over idol' your rig. Is that true? If so, do you know if they have APUs? Thinking about going OTR and wonder who to go with.
Werner is a great company if its your first time. Also, the truck industry is being flooded with students, and now companies wont take anyone new unless they have 2 years exp with a company. Werner is great if you have no exp, then just talk to other drivers while your on the road about pay scale, home time, types of trucks, etc. Good luck.
However difficult this job may be, this video shows what it really is about, because it represents all the memories you will have of it. That is, if you're doing long haul.
By the way, the memories include the music, at least I remember special trips along with special music I enjoyed.Whether it´s driving across Berlin Germany with the Scorpions keeping me company, Eric Clapton while descending the Dover cliffs to Dover England
oh this video seems to glorify trucking just a little bit. it is not what it seems. it is a difficult lifestyle. one in which many cannot adjust. there will be days when you will get depressed and say "is this all that life has to offer". it trucking is in your blood, you will succeed. if not, don't waste your money.
I agree. I rode shotgun when I was a boy with my father. one summer and many many freakin miles in a seat with no air ride, and late 70s rig ride (what air ride suspension?).trucking stayed pretty much a nightmare for 20 years. But the hate turned a weird truth.. steel talks, engines talk, nature talks, traffic jams talk, passing cars talk...the world is small and noone dares talk it.the job is out of pain.. and succeeding that pain. That is all i know about trucking.
I got to give ya props for holding that FLD-132 in the lane. I drive one with Fed Ex Ground and she will wander if ya try doing that. Nice thing about TX thou no one to hit on 90 percent of thier roads LOL.
I will start driving soon...leave for school in the next few days. I'm real excited about it. Sure, I won't be home much, but at least I can do right by my family financially, and see this wonderful nation we call home while doing it. One day soon we will leave the days of the rented dumpy singlewide trailer behind and actually OWN a real house!!
I'm officially employed as a truck driver now! went through schooling and employed with schneider. If you see a tall, dark-haired 23yr old chick driving a schneider truck, wave hello! Me + my boyfriend will be team driving. Being together, making good money and taking our resets and breaks wherever we like wherever we are across the country---- until we move to florida---- Yaay! be safe guys!
I give you lots of credit, I drove for a few years for JB and TRL and I just couldn't make it work. Are the new (to me) hours-of-service regs any better?
Worked for Werner for 3 years, then Heartland for 2 years until they started requesting I drive illegally, then went back to Werner, but dedicated doing Walmart DC to all the Walmart Stores. Home every night and weekends :)
I hate my job, cause I get air conditioning, get to sit down, listen to my music, and worse of all my paychecks are over $1k/week. This jobs sucks, do not apply.
Damn...that's gotta suck. I'd better stick with working in salvage business breakin' my balls in 100 degree heat dealing with people who all want somethin' for nothin'!!
Its to Bad they dont make Conventional Trucks here in the Phillipines. All we have are Japanese Imports.I love Traditional Trucks like the Classic, W900, 379
I visited Bohol Island in the Philippines last year, and noticed the trucks they had, and saw they are not like back home. Wish they were, and I could just move the Philippines as a trucker :)
i HATE driving trucks for hours and hours. God only knows that this job is really fucked up. local yes, but on the roadddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd NO!
zasrana robota, zycie ucieka za kierownica jak przy zadnej innej pracy.
truck driving his ny life i started 4 yrs ago my father and grandfather were truckers my father passed away and my grandfather retired but me and my brother are truckers now so its a great profession to have
it's not great profession. it sucks a big time. hate to tell but about 1000 truckes die in accidents on the road. no ohter job has such high precentage of death on the job!!!
Are you on your job day and night for a week, two weeks, or more at a time? There are issues with weather, other drivers that may be tired, intoxicated, or just not paying attention. Be wary of inflated statistics... people tend to take the privilege of driving lightly. Its quite a responsibility.
I used to be on the road for 3+ weeks at a time for the first 5 years. Bad weather and bad drivers can create stress. Its a big responsiblity with both lives and money. Just need to make smart choices while driving, or even when to pull over and stop for a bit.
i got a question how easy is it driving a truck and the reason why i ask is because im planning on becoming a truck driver my self.Well have a safe trip if ur still driving trucks and have a great time traveling.
Semi's are easy to drive, but thats because I have been pulling trailers with our pickup since the day I got my permit. There are so many convex mirrors on trucks nowadays and some even have cameras, so blind spots aren't that big a deal. Just remember, take turns slow and and wide.
Hey - do you work for leaseway motorcar transport by any chance? Just the colour of the truck, and the G.O.A.L. sticker on the mirror got me thinking that
Whether the truck is Werner blue, royal blue, purple, red, white or black doesn't matter. I will say this, when my other half hit his million miles in 2000, they did give him a black Freighliner special edition. But now that he's worked for them for nearly 16 years all accident free, he can pretty much ask for whatever truck he wants. His last choice was a royal blue Pete 379.
thanks for the trip... loved being otr but the kids need me at home for now but sooner or later ill be back out pounding the hi-way. maybe ill see ya out there
I wondered where that blasted frog had gone. Now I know he's a cross-country trucker. How can a driver film and drive at the same time. Simple, use the Navitron Autodrive System - U.S. truckers have been trying to keep it a secret.
Nica vid. From trucker 2 trucker, you did a good one there. I also enjoy hacking into the scenery and stowing it into my labtop on the road. Check me out. Keep the sunny side up!
The music is by Crazy Frog, which I think spoofs other songs, kinda like Wierd Al. Ya, Im watching the road, thru the 2" preview screen lol. Thanks for the positive comments :)
