All Sen Tom Coburn was asking the Senate to do is to strip Bike Paths from a Appropriations Bill that shouldn't be funded by the Federal Government to begin with to use that money to fix a Minnesota Bridge something the Federal Government should be funding.

there is a big difference in recreational facilities and infrastructure. I like riding horses...others prefer to play softball or frisbee golf (yes they proposed building a frisbee course in Austin). I don't believe that the government should have us paying taxes for these things. This is an excellent example of the government overstepping it's purpose.

Thousands of people use the Greenway everyday to get to and from work, and the bike shop located on the Greenway is a thriving local business.

Bicycles are great and wonderful for exercise and for individuals to commute to work. However the roads and bridges that move our trucks moving produce and products throughout our country. The roads are our first priority, fix the roads then build the bike paths. Our priority is to take care of the community as a whole then we have a priority to take care of the few. They all need attention but the problems need to be attended to one step at a time. Dr Coburn is making a great deal of sense.

I commute to work by bike -- interstate (NY - NJ). Bike paths are NOT just fun, but a serious alternative to fossil-fuel-powered conveyance. But then, why would a Senator from OKLAHOMA, the second largest oil-producing state want to prop up motorists at the expense of developing other modes of transit?!?
