Hey zbilly, I've got egg all over my face. Took my own advice went back and listened to the original myself and you are right about the lyrics. Funny, I just heard it a couple of weeks ago and would have sworn the whole song was in first person.

There's a great documentary called The Wrecking Crew, it's about the group of studio musicians who played on thousands of album from the early 60s to the mid 70s. this was one of the songs they played on.

your working it to much tho, dont force the tone let it flow out. ottherwise that why u can end up pulling long notes you can still keep that power in your voice while singing slower/softer just gota focus on the note your singing and not to pull your voice to catch up with the song
