  • @Linaria what books are you using to study Icelandic? I've been working on it for a few weeks now, en ég er ekki góður í hún.

Takk Fyrir! (and your Icelandic is very good, I can tell!)

  • Loved but japonese and spanish are beter

    MEGARA'S VOICE IS BEEEE-YUUUUUU-TEEEEE-FULLLLL! =D

  • woa. this is the language of mermaids.

  • I'm spanish, and I actually love icelandic language.. I'm looking for icelandics songs, they're all so cute.. It's a beautiful language

  • Makes me wonder how it'd sound if Disney cartoons were dubbed in Faroese too. :]

    Nevertheless, I love this version~!

  • @AarinHikaKao Replying to an ancient comment, I know... but Faroese disney dubs would be the best thing ever. Just sayin'. xD The Icelandic version is just amazing though, for sure.

  • omg, its my first time ive ever heard iclandic language, arabic+icelandic are the best versions

  • ég er meira að horfa á disney lög á ísl til að skoða comment :p

  • This version seems so much more honest XD

  • Woow... this sounds a bit like the Dutch version!

Well, I'm Dutch and I like this a lot :)

  • Icelandic rules. Nuff sid :) but does she relly say "Ast" at the end? It just sounds like "ooohh".

  • LOL ! i thought i'm the only freak that loves to listen to the icelandic texts and lyrics :D

  • Does anyone know how to get the song? and possibly the lyrics?

  • @Majin559 i have one website that you can download this song just pm me

  • I love watching Disney movies in other languages with English subtitles! A lot of the dialog (song lyrics especially, since they need the rhyme and beat to match) change completely.

  • þeir sem dislikuðu játa ekki ástina !!

  • /watch?v=ZtPCzUS6eaU

  • Ég hef elskað þetta lag síðan ég var pínu pons!!!

  • Íslensk lög í disney myndum eru frábær.

  • Sounds alot like Norwegian on the pronounciation... Cool! Wish I could speak Icelandic!

  • @MaritaAaB According to Wikipedia, Icelandic and Norwegian are in the same language family.

  • @JakAndKeiraFan Yeah, I know :) Icelandic is quite similar to old norse, but I thought it would sound less like norwegian pronounciation :)

  • @AmoAmorem the difference between "fyrir" with the meaning of "for" and "handa" is almost none. for english translation you can translate both only to "for". But in Icelandic if you say "handa" it usually means that you are making something or there is a thing involved which you will probably end up giving. example: "I'm jogging for her" is clear. if you say the same thing in Icelandic but translate directly and use "handa" it would sound weird because there is no physical thing involved.

  • @TheKristjanAri could u please tell me what's the meaning of "handa" and with which language? it's my mum's name :)

  • @misspinkyrose its a japanese sir name xD

  • @misspinkyrose its a japanese sir name xD and a word in iceland

  • @beini321 thanks for ur reply :)

do u know what does it mean in iceland? :)

  • @misspinkyrose this is FOR you: þetta er HANDA þér, HAND shake: HANDA band, its just kinda word for a hand....

  • @AmoAmorem at the "Fyrir honum" part it is correct, in that case it is the dative case. It is the same with if it would be a man falling for a women "Fyrir henni" which would also put "her" in the dative case. In this particular sentence the word "fyrir" is not equal to the english meaning "for" but it has the meaning "in front" in it. So I could say "Hún er fyrir Honum" meaning "she is in front of him" (blocking him). "fallin fyrir honum" is "she has fallen off her feet in love with him". Sorta

  • @AmoAmorem Fyrir means for as in "i did something for you" handa is more like "this is gift is for you"--and what do you mean with "dative case"? hana=her, mig=me, honum(bent from the word hann)=him

  • I still think the Finnish version kicks ass, Laura's voice talks with different kind of passion.

  • love the rolling R's. makes me think of rrrrrrrrrrussian and/or spanish

  • I really have to learn icelandic...

Gah, I bet I'm going to force myself to learn as many languages I can -.-'

  • great version! ^^ the singers rocks! :D

  • i reallyreally like this version ! icelandic is even more lovely that i thought !!

  • Her voice is so beautiful and elegant.

  • I love this version. Meg's voice is mature and strong like it should be (Just needs a bit more). I love Icelandic. ♥

  • As a language, Icelandic is orgasmic to ears, something utterly beautiful! <3 As a fellow Nordic I really like Icelandic's way of prounouncing things~

But in this certain song, think Meg's voice could be a slight bit darker and have more OOMPH in a way. Otherwise, European dubs are at the top of the list~ <33

  • @Maplespirit I'm actually watching Hercules in English for the first time right now, and when Meg started singing this song I felt it sounded too dark so I came here for the Icelandic version! Haha, I guess it's just how you hear things first.

  • @Maplespirit that made my day, thank you (im icelandic)

  • Besta lagið !

  • I like icelandic version quite much ^^ Love when she says "Oh nei, aldrei" :D

  • eeelska þetta lag!!! ^^

  • I'm trying to hear what you guys all here: Icelandic being a beautiful language. Of course I know my language is stunningly beautiful, but I want to hear it and I'm trying to listen and hear it, but it's really hard when you understand the words, the language, grew up with this movie in this version and start singing along by reflex.

  • @Compootor i know right you can't hear the beauty in the language when you're from iceland just the same old same old and you just start to sing along :p haha

  • @Compootor For me, it's the brisk rolling r's, the soft Þ and Ð, the smooth vowels (love the diphthongs), and the voiceless sonorants (like 'hn'). It sounds like nothing else in Europe. The only other language in Europe that is as beautiful as Icelandic is Welsh, and I would LOVE to hear a Welsh version of this song.

  • @Warrosquyoake That does make sense. I Love Icelandic, and I understand what you're telling me when you write it down, but when you understand the words, it's a little difficult to hear all those qualities.

  • J.R.R. Tolkien realized the beauty in Icelandic. He used it as a basis in many of his languages and in some of the Elven languages in LOTRO.

  • Very pretty, love her voice.

    Greetings from Finland<3

  • ^^ Wow, what a pretty language... Just made me fall in love with Icelandic.. It kinda reminds me of danish, swedish and norwegian.

  • @Acryingtear It's because Icelandic came from norwegian.

  • @Hundparkenskatthund Now your mistaking... Icelandic was and allways will be the oldest scandinavian language... because Iceland was so isolatede from other countrys we upheld our language... Norway, sweeden and Denmark spoke iceland ( the old language)... but because there are so many countrys around them they lost it... Learned that in history class and may I point out, that I live in Denmark and if you look at old danish writing... you will see It looks verry much like Icelandic...

  • @alaya888

Well some language scientist claims that Älvdalska ( a language spoken in a small part in Sweden called Älvdalen) is even more close to the vikings language

  • @Kreigaren It's the most archaic variety left on the mainland, but it is nowhere near as conservative in morphology and phonology as Icelandic.

  • @Warrosquyoake

    Interesting reply! :)

  • @Acryingtear true, but more epic! >:D and harder to learn :/

  • i thought it would sound weird, but it's pretty cool :)

  • Mér finnst gaman að horfa á Disney kvikmyndir á íslensku

  • I like how they keep some wit and personality in the lyrics, a lot of other translations make her sound like she's some whiny teen.

  • @gingermoll101 no, the translation is actually really good. If you don't know Icelandic and are maybe looking the words up in a dictionary... than the lyrics won't make sense... But when you put all those words together, they mean the same thing that the english lyrics say.

  • Love selma, she is awesome!

  • awesome voice 1:23

  • haha var búin að gleyma þessu lagi :P

  • Jeg elsker den

  • Ég elska þetta lag! <3<3<3 það er skemmtilegast á íslensku

  • Ég elska þetta lag! <3<3<3

  • @eidos90 Boo too Disney (NOW)

  • Elska röddina í Selmu í þessu!!!;D

  • Oh how I wish I could speak this beautiful, beautiful language... :'D

  • flott framtak

  • ^__^ such a pretty language!

  • Icelandic sounds very beautiful!

  • It's always so much sweeter in languages other than english! It made me sigh with satisfction. Thank you!

  • When I just listen to the song and not watching the lyrics, it kinda reminds me of norwegian :p

  • Amazing voice =)

  • love it! but i love hungarian version the most!

  • @RomildaV I think I do too

  • I love Icelandic Disney, it's always translated with such art!

  • okeii :)

  • vitiði hver talar fyrir hercules ?;o

  • @birta3 hm, ég held að það er Valur Freyr Einarsson

  • Icelandic is such a beautiful language. Skál!

  • elska þessa mynd og sérstaklega þetta lag n_n vel gert

  • I love the Icelandic (is that a word?) language! I'm from Sweden and I think our language to the Disneysongs are okey, but Icelandic is just awsome!

It sounds really exotic and a little bit rough and romantic. I love it!

  • Wow! She sings so beautifully! I can't pronounce that language... and, to be honest, I didn't even know it existed. But this version is awsome!

    5 stars!

  • They got every language without Faorese! XD I wanna hear the songs in my own language XD

  • amen bróður, hetta er fanimi forgalið.

  • What?

  • the arabic and the english are da best two

  • Danish? That's sooo easy. Well, i guess it's more easy since I have a danish mom...but, not really, never talked danish with her. Plus i always watched swedish cartoons as a kid XD I guess i'm just that epic ;D

From the Faroe Islands too :p

  • Eg havi akkurát sagt tað :P well, 2 vikur síðani, men líkamikið

  • @aGeilini I think I understand your Faroese

Is it kinda like this? " Can you honestly tell me that the pronounciation of danish is easy? As it is, it is the only that ...(guess troubles me or something?). , and the most faroese"?

In swedish it would look like this

Bra gissat :) The word "knípur", is the verb form of the noun equivalent "knípa". knípa meaning a problem or sticky situation and etc. and as for the rest, it was spot on. :)

  • @aGeilini We have the word "knipa" as well, but we don't use it in this way...The context like you is probably the same in the end, but we can't use it like "knípur hjá mær"

In this case, we would probably say something like "Vi är i knipa när det kommer till uttalet" if we had to use that word

  • @aGeilini And yeah, danish pronounciation is tricky...It's as if they have porridge in their throats, and it's more like they cut half the words out when they pronounce them

  • Usually, I prefer stronger voice for Meg like in German or Hungarian but Selma sound so sweet and adorable (similar to Hebrew)... It's impossible not liking her voice for me :)

  • the english words are wrong

  • that's because it's a translation... icelandic to english.

  • oh sorry i didnt know that

  • this is the best version by far ! this and arabic ! my favorite part where the singers voice sounds absolutely BEAUTIFUL is 1:25 - 1:29. i get the chills when i hear that and just replay it over and over again.

  • i love this vercion and the language !! im mexican !!

  • i like your language!! a bit better than the danish :DD

  • I like your spirit!:D I'm icelandic, I love this version, I think it's much better than the english version, and WAY better than the danish one. :)

  • oh how cute!!! i love this version!! so great...

  • All the languages I want to learn are so difficult. T_T

  • Icelandic is such a cool language X3

  • ah i didn't see it was icelandic because it was wroten there :)

  • it wasn't written, not wroten

  • haha cool language, witch one is it?

    i wanna learn it!!!

  • It's Icelandtic. :3

  • you really dont want to learn it :P it is really really hard and difficult to learn and even more to speak...

  • no danish is just like having a potato showed up your throat

  • it's icelandic..

  • wow thats one of the best versions!

  • i´d really like to learn this language

but i´ve heard it is one of the most difficult languages

  • Wow! What a beautiful version!

  • You guys if you want to know who the singer is her name is selma and she sings so many songs search her, she is in itunes

  • I love this language. It's so much more beautiful than english. (Or french which is what all my friends think is the best language.)

I'd love to type it but I have no idea how on an american keyboard.

  • too many consonants!!!!!!!! lol

  • The muses sound awful. Selma sounds great, though.

  • why awful ?

is it beacause that they don't sound like black girls? they sound like icelandic once

  • Wow blatant racism.

  • Good voice.

  • I also remember watching this a long time ago... this is really fun to listen to, and her voice is gorgeous as well. Icelandic is amazing.

  • Yup it sucks. now they focus on hanna montana and high school musical shit oO

  • selma er best

    syngur best

    jesus hún er geðveik

  • ÞETTA ER BEST ! :o
