Tinnitus is a completely different from what these people are claiming. Tinnitus is testable, and confirm-able. Don't think that specialist in their field don't know what tinnitus is or how to test and treat with medication.
Even though this seems far fetched. Note the two they interviewed. They seem quite knowledgeable in acoustics. Maybe they have trained themselves to hear/feel something that most people just cannot pick up. To say all humans are built the same is ignorance and childish.
I remember watching this as a kid and thinking "hey! I hear that exact humming noise when it's quiet." The doctor just ignored me when I told him as a kid back in the late 80's or early 90's. Now I know it was simply tinnitus. For my particular case it was caused by me being sensitive to the common food ingredient MSG and other ingredients high in free glutamic acid. I also have way better hearing than other people and am more sensitive to louder sounds than others.

@gnossticc I agree my son has extremely good hearing, he hears things before we do, also he sees things we don't. He has blue field vision. More than likely the sounds come from the inner ear or they have super sensitive hearing.
@crib1981 the ringing does not come from your piercing...is it a high ringing? if so just ask that it gets more quit...angelvoices sounds that high. Sounds weird to you? I understand that but I know what I am talking about.
If it concerns you then see a doktor so that you know your ears are okay:-)
There is no Taos hum, it is all in their head, they are Taos people they are so friggin wierd. They are the stangest people in New Mexico, Los Alamos being the second. I live in Los Alamos and this entire state is off. I have been here for nearly 10 years and the longer I am here the more I want to go back to Michigan. Pod people from another planet! I don't doubt you can create the sound in yourself though.

THUMBS DOWN FOR ANNOYING HUMS!
i got a good feeling the cause is something seismic both new mexico arizona utah nevada colorado and california is filled with bits and pieces of fromer volcanic activity left behind from likely thousands of years back such as lava flows some that still could be active miles deep under the crust, in michigan it can be simple as a fault line as the cause
sounds like a bad case of tinnitus.
