Just got home from hosting a monthly CS gathering in Tokyo for something like the 15th time. It's been a great year and a half since I joined CS, and I expect to have lots of great experiences in the future too! :D
Can't wait 'till I'll be the one traveling. So far I've hosted something like 150 people and surfed once. :P
"It's not what you save what matters though. It's the intangible moments, the invaluable local perpsective.. The immediate shift from outsider tourist to local traveller."
I couldn't have said it better myself. CouchSurfing rocks, it is amazing and I've made so many friends and met so many awesome people!
I've hosted over 100 couchsurfers and surfed a few times myself. I am a 55 year old woman and have never had a bad experience. I have made many friends from all over the world. I still keep in touch with some of these people and had a couple of cs'er friends come back n visit me. It is a rich rewarding way to experience other cultures. One cs'er from Denmark laid laminate flooring for me. Another synched my comp w my ipod, another was a famous journalist from
The only way to travel!!! I have hosted many from all over and it has been great! I have stayed at few places too! No better way to experiance travel!!!
I have welcomed people in my place for about 2 years and have been hosted several times, and all experiences have been fantastic. It is great when people forget about fears and just trust each other!
That's cool, if you have the nerve to do it. God, know's I'm so paranoid i would'nt allow perfect stranger's to sleep on my couch, or me personally, sleeping on strange couches, in strange houses. I'm a female though, maybe it's different for us.
No. There is not difference. It's just in your mind. I am a female traveler and as long as you listen to your heart, and not the television, you will be fine.
I am a 55 yr old female and have always had great experiences,, the key is to check their profile and references to make sure they are into the same things you are into..I've only turned down a few requests to stay with me because they were into heavy drinking (I;m not) or they weren't a fit into my lifestyle, ie big party animals,, Try it ,, you'll like it..
But you have to travel around with an Computer and Internet connection lol? Or visit Internet cafe every day
